Clinton Camp Feels Spent, and Outspent
I guess this unseats the Clintons as the best fundraisers in the business. The best part of this is that Obama can amass these funds and volunteers to beat McCain. The Clinton campaign does not have this infrastructure and therefore, cannot effectively stop the Republican machine. Does the Clinton Campaign and their supporters believe that all of the Obama faithful will simply change hats and devote this energy to her campaign, if she becomes the nominee? I can't imagine that being the case.

"Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton spent a second straight day holding fundraisers in California yesterday as part of an all-out effort to keep pace with the record amounts of money raised by Sen. Barack Obama, whose campaign announced that it pulled in $40 million in March, double Clinton's $20 million take.

"While her Democratic presidential rival took the day off in Chicago, Clinton held two fundraisers in Los Angeles and planned to raise money in New Mexico this weekend. She will leave the campaign trail on Wednesday to attend an Elton John concert in New York organized with a goal to raise $2 million."

"Even Clinton's most energetic boosters expressed exhaustion by the call to raise more money. "I'll tell you, after a year of doing this, it's like asking me to run a half-marathon after I've run a marathon," said Mark A. Aronchick, a co-chairman of Clinton's Pennsylvania campaign, who is organizing five fundraisers over the next eight days."

-CUT-

" Obama's ability to capitalize on a sustained wave of online support has enabled him to spend almost all of his time campaigning. Clinton has attended more than a dozen fundraisers since Jan. 1, and her husband, former president Bill Clinton, has appeared at more than 40, while Obama and his wife have attended fewer than 10 during that time."

"Sen. Casey, an Obama supporter, said he was shocked when he learned Obama attended just one fundraiser in February. Casey, by contrast, attended 450 fundraisers during his 2006 Senate campaign. He said a typical day involved three hours of calling donors, followed by as many as three fundraising events per night. "It was pick-and-shovel work, just chipping away."

1. Hey, barb162 owes me a beer!
We bet on March fundraising. I bet that Barack would outraise Hillary by at least $5 million.

Damn, I'm thirsty already!

2. re: "Does the Clinton Campaign and their supporters believe that all of the Obama
faithful will simply change hats and devote this energy to her campaign, if she becomes the nominee? " That is a key point in all the arguing about who is most electible.

4. Exactly
All those small donors are not going to go the way of Clinton if she were to magically win. She cannot even keep her debt under wraps and with the way the economy is going people are going to be reluctant to give their hard earned money to someone who cannot pay their bills. Obama has shown he can organize and use the money wisely. I have yet to see that with the Clinton camp.

8. Yeah! That was my personal quote - not the article
Thanks for noticing that. :) I wish the MSM would focus on this. With the "boots on the ground" volunteer infrastructure set up by Obama, how can he not win? Someone needs to ask the Clinton campaign if they seriously think these faithful Obama volunteers, who have been doing this for 18 months will just turn over and be as excited and as enthusiastic for Clinton.

No way.

3. He Has Organized A Superb Campaign
As well as spending his money wisely

"Obama spokesman Bill Burton said yesterday that the campaign is "grateful" for the largess and is "using the resources as efficiently as possible."

His campaign is very good for small donors as it's putting the power back in our hands

10. from Hillary's fundraiser in LA last night...
(from Politico):

At the end of the event, the music played to usher people out, but Hillary stopped the music and implored the crowd to donate. "I need your help. I'm being outspent," she said.

always the victim....

16. I wonder how much she has for the primaries
all of that fundraising may very well be for the GE, since many of her contributers already maxed out.

13. She may be outspent now, but had she managed her money more
efficiently from the outset, she wouldn't be in near the situation she is now. She hasn't been able to drum up the money, hasn't managed the money well, and now is unhappy that the other guy is outspending her. And based on her mismanagement, it isn't surprising the money is drying up.

14. When Hillary was ahead in funds, it proved she was evil. So at least she's not evil anymore.
