Bayh doesn't think Kerry will ask him to be vp but would accept if asked
<MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh says he doesn't think the chances are very good that Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry will ask him to be his running mate.

Speaking in at the AM General plant in Mishawaka Tuesday, Bayh (pictured, left) said he's not basing that on anything he's been told. He said the sheer number of people mentioned as possible vice presidential candidates made his odds slim.

But when Bayh was asked if he would accept the job if it was offered to him, he said it is not something you say "no" to.

North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, Missouri Congressman Dick Gephardt and even Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain have been mentioned as possible Kerry running mates. >

2. If I knew anything much about Bayh, I might have an opinion.
Indiana is a long ways away from MA. I gather that he's a fairly conservative Democrat from a very Republican state, but that's about it.

9. Gee, you are 0 for 2 -- try getting your facts straight . . .
the next time you bash a Democratic politician.

He's not "very conservative." His lifetime liberal score from Americans for Democratic Action is 74. That's the same as Dick Gephart's lifetime score.

And while Bayh has cast a handful of anti-choice votes in his legislative career (mainly relating to the partial birth abortion ban), his overall voting record is pro-choice. Someone who actually wants to know the truth about Bayh's position on abortion should read the following article:

Sorry, but not being 100% liberal doesn't make you "very conservative," just as not being 100% pro abortion rights doesn't make you anti-choice. Unfortunately, some DU'ers insist on seeing everything as black and white.

5. His wife sounds like a complete liability
My friend (who grew up in DC, hence a classmate) met his wife at the last class reunion and, in what was described as an "appalling conversation" learned she had many racist and prejudicial reasons for deciding that Latinos made the best house help. I won't get into the details but it was generally like.... :puke:

Evan himself sounds like a super polished politician, thanks of course to his dad. But a bit of a phony.
My friend said he never seemed "real".

6. have heard some not so positive things
from folks who knew him in college. More along the lightweight, frat boy, sorta pompous/arrogant lines.

7. weird
because seeing him and listening to him he seems like a nice , ok guy even though one may disagree with his views on the issues. but as newyorkerfrommass said in another post, he is just a good politician i guess. i heard from someone else that when they met him they thought "snake oil salesman".

10. DU'ers just hate him because he isn't a knee-jerk liberal
You have to understand, many DU'ers would never be satisfied with a candidate with a moderate record who could appeal to mainstream America.
