1. Pretty bad.
3.37 million viewers, bad demo numbers....fantastic for cable, but not great at all for NBC. He did 1 million less viewers than his last special.

5. I wonder if the basketball game had anything to do with it
The game went past 7pm. I wonder how many watched the game and stayed for 60 min. I forgot he was on. I caught him because I was checking the program guide.

2. Does anybody still watch 60 Minutes???
Haven't seen that show in more than 20 years. Hard to believe it's still on.

4. It's funny, because the same people from 20 years ago still host the show!

3. It came in fourth place of the four networks.
From TV ratings blog TV Newser -- http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/

Count Up or Countdown?

A special edition of MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann aired last night on the mothership at NBC. The hour-long network special, broadcast at 7pm, finished fourth in the time period in Total Viewers according to fast-national ratings.

Olbermann's first network special in August finished third in Total Viewers, but last night's special eclipsed the rating figure by about 10%.

Olbermann competed with the end of the Kansas-Davidson NCAA Tournament game and the beginning of 60 Minutes on CBS (14,730,000 viewers), America's Funniest Home Videos on ABC (8,270,000) and King of the Hill and American Dad on FOX (3,770,000). Countdown finished with 3,370,000 viewers.

Also, compared to Dateline last week at 7pmET, NBC was down 43%. Still, the program brought in more than triple what Countdown averages in Total Viewers on MSNBC, which is averaging 1,038,000 viewers in the first quarter of 2008.

An NBC insider tells TVNewser, "We're thrilled with the additional exposure Countdown has received on the network."

7. It was on at 6 pm here.
I doubt that helped with the ratings from the Phoenix area.

6. Dunno, but he defended Hillary last night.
Named Dick Morris Worst Person for spreading a lie about Hillary.

(just wanted the Hillary folks who are boycotting his show to know that he's NOT anti-Hillary).

9. Don't want to turn this in a Hillary bashing thread, please.
And it was good to see Keith rage at Dick Morris. :hi:

10. There is no way thet KO is NOT very anti-Hillary
He has all but called her a racist and a war-monger, as well as having accused her of playing the 'fear' card, the 'gender' card and the 'victim' card -- all without proof; all without, in fact, anything except purely self-manufactured outrage.

Keith is anti-Hillary, which makes him anti-me. I hope Hillary never again gives him the time of day, just as I no longer give him even five seconds of my daily attention.

11. No, he isn't.
He's offered concrete proof any time he's offered criticism of EITHER candidate (he's criticized Obama, too).

Sorry, you folks and your kneejerk "they're all hacks!" response is 100% intellectually dishonest. Fair journalism criticizes everybody who warrants it; it doesn't exclude our preferred democratic candidates just because KO happens to be vocally center-left.

I'm simply pointing out that he DEFENDED Hillary last night, contrary to aaaaaall the accusations here that he "hates" her.

12. Except to post on a thread about him, apparently.
Which took more than five seconds, unless your typing skills are the finest ever seen.

In which case, congratulations. If not, you give lie to your alleged inattention.

13. Sadly, I agree with you. I've supported him for so long
I have never felt so hurt by his treatment of Hillary. Frankly, I just assumed he would remain neutral, and when he didn't "he bwoke my heart, damn it." Obviously, we learn what anchors are dem or pug, but supporting one dem over another is just beyond the pale, and is dangerous for ratings. Obviously, you can lose viewers that you've come to depend on. Better to stay neutral and say report the news without bias.
