What's done is done.--a shout out to the literate ones.
Come, you spirits
That tend on mortal thoughts! unsex me here,
And fill me from the crown to the toe, top-full
Of direst cruelty; make thick my blood,
Stop up the access and passage to remorse,
That no compunctious visitings of nature
Shake my fell purpose, nor keep peace between
The effect and it! Come to my woman's breasts,
And take my milk for gall, you murdering ministers,
Wherever in your sightless substances
You wait on nature's mischief!

6. Maybe a more apropos play would be:
Romans, countrymen, and lovers! Hear me for my cause; and be
silent, that you may hear: believe me for mine honour, and have
respect to mine honor, that you may believe: censure me in your
wisdom; and awake your senses, that you may the better judge.

If there be any in this assembly, any dear friend of Caesar's, to
him I say that Brutus' love to Caesar was no less than his. If
then that friend demand why Brutus rose against Caesar, this is
my answer,--Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome
more.

Had you rather Caesar were living, and die all slaves, than
that Caesar were dead, to live all freemen? As Caesar loved me, I
weep for him; as he was fortunate, I rejoice at it; as he was
valiant, I honour him; but, as he was ambitious, I slew him.

There is tears for his love; joy for his fortune; honour for his
valour; and death for his ambition. Who is here so base that
would be a bondman? If any, speak; for him have I offended. Who
is here so rude that would not be a Roman?

If any, speak; for him have I offended. Who is here so vile that will not love his
country? If any, speak; for him have I offended. I pause for a reply.

8. Within that speech
Lies Karl Rove's entire political philosophy. Spin, spin, turn, turn, twist, twist.

12. Julius Caesar is a beauty of a play!
and like most great literature, it's timeless.

I wish more young people had to see and write about cool things like this.

14. I've always seen Antony's speech as the spin.
Brutus was an honorable man, driven to extreme measures in defense of the republic. Antony overthrew the republic and established the empire.

I prefer Brutus.

11. Lookie here: the bard is a genius.
So is he mine; and in such bloody distance,
That every minute of his being thrusts
Against my near'st of life; and though I could
With barefaced power sweep him from my sight
And bid my will avouch it, yet I must not,
For certain friends that are both his and mine,
Whose loves I may not drop, but wail his fall
Who I myself struck down; and thence it is,
That I to your assistance do make love,
Masking the business from the common eye
For sundry weighty reasons.

13. Wishful thinking and out of context????
I am so much a fool, should I stay longer,
It would be my disgrace and your discomfort.
I take my leave at once.

Have I told you how bad ass Billy is? Perhaps my new policy in GD-P is simply to quote the bard. He really does say it all.

18. Here's one, a little newer but damn, it's good
"Don't be deceived when they tell you things are better now. Even if there's no poverty to be seen because the poverty's been hidden. Even if you ever got more wages and could afford to buy more of these new and useless goods which industries foist on you and even if it seems to you that you never had so much, that is only the slogan of those who still have much more than you.

Don't be taken in when they paternally pat you on the shoulder and say that there's no inequality worth speaking of and no more reason to fight because if you believe them they will be completely in charge in their marble homes and granite banks from which they rob the people of the world under the pretence of bringing them culture.

Watch out, for as soon as it pleases them they'll send you out to protect their gold in wars whose weapons, rapidly developed by servile scientists, will become more and more deadly until they can with a flick of the finger tear a million of you to pieces."

– Jean Paul Marat speechfor Peter Weiss' 1963 play "The Persecution and Assassination of Jean Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton as Directed by the Marquis De Sade"
