Kerry's List Is Long, but One Name Is on Many Lips (VP per Craig Crawford)
Note to Reader: forgive me for posting another "McCain for VP" story. What I found most interesting was Crawford's actual handicapping of the field of potential picks. I also included the 'graph that mentions McCain has to file for his Senate re-election bid by June 9.

So the good news is that this media created phenomenon will die a natural death very soon.

Interesting read.

Kerry's List Is Long, but One Name Is on Many Lips

Deepening problems in Iraq could provide ample justification for McCain to reverse himself and sign on to the Kerry ticket -- and to explain away his current assertions that he is not even considering this extraordinary idea. But the clock is ticking: McCain is up for re-election to a fourth term this year, and the filing deadline is June 9.

Still, the odds are improving for a historic bipartisan fusion ticket in the latest installment of the Trail Mix Handicapper, Veepstakes edition.

Sen. John Edwards, N.C.

Odds: 5-1 (Chance for the ticket: 17 percent)

Buzz: Now campaigning for the No. 2 spot as earnestly as he ran for the No. 1 spot. Geography: Understands how to pitch economic populism to rural voters in the South and beyond. Chemistry: He and his former rival are warming up to one another after some harsh words in those last primary debates.

Rep. Richard A. Gephardt, Mo.

Odds: 6-1 (Chance for the ticket: 14 percent)

-snip-

Sen. John McCain, Ariz.

Odds: 7-1 (Chance for the ticket: 12 percent)

-snip-

Gov. Tom Vilsack, Iowa

-snip-

Retired Army Gen. Wesley K. Clark

Odds: 9-1 (Chance for the ticket: 10 percent)

Buzz: Iraq debacle earns the former supreme allied commander another look. Geography: His home state of Arkansas is in play. Chemistry: Hard to imagine them slamming back shots at the local pub.

1. If he's thinking of Gep
Edwards is a much better speaker than Gep, and I'm sure he'd play well in the Midwest.

2. Gep
I would really like to see him as Sec of Labor and to unscrew some of the mess left by the current administration.

3. seems he personally likes and gets along with Edwards the most
i do know he also gets along with gephardt though. and of course he loves mccain but that has more to do with their working together on an issue painful to both of them (vietnam pow/mia case).

why do articles keep suggesting he doesn't like or get along well with clark ? i saw those pics of them campaigning and they looked ok together.
