Bush camp hobbled by poor poll performance

Washington - United States President George Bush's tumbling popularity, at its lowest point in his term, has begun to worry managers of his campaign for re-election in November.

"I have no idea where it will end up, but all the president's numbers have to move is plus or minus five or six (points)... which can easily happen, because of events," Bush campaign strategist Matthew Dowd told the Washington Times.

"If his approval numbers move above 50, it's very difficult to lose. If his numbers move below 40, it's very difficult to win. Those are facts," he told the conservative Washington daily.

Ah, but who can remember those heady days of yore, when the Annointed One's approval hovered around the stratosphere and naught but the 10 percenters believed he'd ever "hover" at less than 85%? Oh, how the "mighty" have stumbled. . . time for a quick kick in the arse to send him sprawling, get those numbers moved below 40, so Matthew Dowd can get out there looking for a new job. That shouldn't pose much of a challenge, what with the great economy we've been bequeathed by Bushonomics...
