So what do you have at stake in this election?
Is it your pride? Your sense of entitlement? Is it that you are a racist or a misogynist? Is it that you are involved in the campaign? Working for one of the candidates?

Or is it a lack of health care that worries you? Do you spend a few minutes every day thanking god that your kid didn't get the flu that was going around?

Do you have a family member or friend in Iraq? Have you lost one?

Have you lost your house? Are you close?

Have the credit card companies raised your rates? For no reason?

Are you being crushed under the weight of gas and food prices?

Are you worried about the environment?

Have you had enough? Or are you one of those "Obama's/Hillary's supporters insulted me so badly I'll never vote for him/her? Well I'm sorry IF your delicate sensibilities have been damaged by the vicious attacks on your candidate on an anonymous political blog

If you are that easily swayed then take your fucking ball and go home. In the meantime I'll continue my support for Obama until the primary is over and then I will support whoever has the big "D" next to their name in the general. I may not want to vote for Hillary but my pathetic political feelings don't amount to much when I see the blood in the sand. Or when I lie awake at night cussing out the insurance industry which will not insure me at any price because I have.. wait for it.. SICK PEOPLE IN MY HOUSE! You know those sick people, especially kids, have no business getting decent health care.

I was going to end this post with an insult to people who refuse to vote for one of the Dems, but there's no point, I'll just say that here is my unity thread for today. Now let me hit the enter key and watch it drop like a stone to make room for all the FUCKING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, WHINY FUCK, PLAYGROUND CRAP, THAT'S PASSING FOR POLITICAL DEBATE AROUND HERE.

2. "Blood in the sand"
Babycakes, you said it. It is time to unite behind BOTH candidates. This shit that is going down on here about "I'm not voting unless MY CANDIDATE is THE candidate" is completely and utterly foolish.

FOOLISH, you hear me, you divisive fuckers, FOOLISH!

7. The rest of my days -- and my child and grandchild
I am a geezer - the ONLY way for the planet to survive is with strong modeling by the USA of our values and ingenuity in solving gobal crises - be they warming or warring.

That can only happen with Democrats being in power, given the mendacity and short-sightedness of the present GOP.

Like it or not - we remain the biggest dog on the global street ---- for the time being.

One more term with Repugs at the Executive helm will destroy any chance that we have the power to lead.

11. Wow.. does that sound familiar...
although it was 2 years ago I lost my job. I managed to do better freelancing than I did working for some other schmoe.. My oldest is draft age in 3 years...

I've been trying to get health insurance, got too many people with "pre-existing conditions". I see people here bitching about being "forced" to pay for health care under Hillary's plan. I'd love to be forced into getting health care at this point, and at 10% of my income, it would be cheaper than what I would pay to any insurance company now. The last insurance guy I tried said he'd try to push me through for $1800 a month. Even at that rate they wouldn't take me..

14. 1,800 a MONTH!
Holy Crap!!! November can't come fast enough, can it? The one thing we all really have to do is Keep McCain out!! and keep him out in a big way, I'm sure there will be some "shenanigans" again (I live in Ohio) so it won't be good enough to beat him by 5 or 10%.....

I'm over 40, but because I had gestational diabetes with my second son---9 years ago---I couldn't get insurance w/out a "rider/disclaimer" that if I eventually have diabetes it won't be covered...that's real nice!

Yeah, freelancing has its advantages, basically more money, and you get paid for every hour you work. But then there are no paid sick days or vacation days...so we have to stay healthy...And getting your own benefits really sucks!

Good Luck!!!

12. I belive that McCain be so anxious to wag war against Iran that he
will institute a draft to obtain the troops required to do so. I have a teenage grandson who will be of draft age. So as much as Hillary turns me off, if push comes to shove I would vote for her to hopefully save my grandson's hide. Then there's the supreme court. It is already too conservative. McCain appointments will corrupt it for decades to come.

16. the economy...
Edited on Sat Mar-29-08 09:43 AM by CitizenLeft
...so that the small business where I'm employed doesn't fold. And so that the middle class and the poor get some relief, which raises all our boats (and I might get a decent raise. Yeah, that too).

Healthcare... so that the small company I work for can lower the rates and I can afford to be covered (right now it costs $120 a month - I know that's less than a lot of people pay, but I'm single and have no spousal/sig. other's income to help out - it's killing me).

Supreme Court... we can't allow a Republican president to tilt the court even more to the right for generations to come. That would be the end of us.

Global warming... I don't think McCain would veto any environmental legistlation that tries to reverse global warming, but I'm not willing to take that chance.

Education... I don't have any kids, but I'm tired of our children not being able to find Wyoming on a damn map, much less Iraq.

Which leads me to Iraq... GET OUT.

For these reasons, though I'm primarily an Obama supporter and want to see him in the WH, I will vote for the DEMOCRAT no matter what.
