LOL! GD-P is.....a microcosm of the real world.

A lot of people think that it's a bad thing. I don't. I wouldn't post or read here if I thought it was a waste of time. For one thing, I find it entertaining.

The main reason I read and post here, though, is that here - right here - is where it's all going down. Right here on GD-P we are wrestling with some major issues that are too often ignored or "prettied up" in the real world.

In fact, issues of race, gender, and sex are not resolved within the Democratic Party, and this messy process of facing them, talking about them, getting so angry we're red in the face, pounding out our feelings on our keyboards - that's how we're going to eventually come to a mutual understanding. I believe it.

The Republican Party doesn't face these issues. They shut down discussion like a totalitarian state. According to the Republican line, gay people are abominations, women should know their places beneath men, and all minorities should shut up and appreciate what little they get. The Republican Party is based on the assumption that white straight men are the standard, white straight women are their consorts, and everybody else is not worth much.

Since we don't believe those things in the Democratic Party, we have a noisy, messy fight on our hands. Always. Every year. And especially in a year when we (finally) have both an African American and a woman running for the nomination. It was inevitable that it would come to this. Some other message boards handle the problem by simply coming out in favor of one candidate or the other, essentially shutting down all the messy controversy. DU doesn't do that.

I can say that I *love* most of the posters here in GD-P - even the ones with whom I strongly disagree. Even the ones (countless, no doubt) who have me on ignore. (I'm about equally hated by Hillary supporters and Obama supporters, as far as I can tell. In fact, I'm sure that this thread will sink like a rock since everybody has me on ignore.)

I don't care. I had to post this. It's a message of love - and yes, hope - from a middle-aged white lesbian Pagan-Christian fishatarian radical socialist mother of uncircumcised boys who has sometimes eaten at the Olive Garden.

His right ear is tipped so that the rescue organization would recognize him and not trap him again after he was released back into his feral colony. But, apparently, when he came out of anesthesia he was so sweet and friendly they decided to adopt him out. I came along looking for a sweet cat as a companion for my old fighter, and now I have Impy.

He is a little odd but he's the sweetest cat I've ever had. And I've had dozens.

45. Ok, a really tricky question. I will answer with absolute honesty.

I don't remember. It's possible. I breastfed everywhere I went for about a four-year period (I had two children two years apart and breast fed them both for about two years) that is a complete blur - I have only the haziest memories of this completely frenetic, totally sleep-deprived period of my life.
