The Casey Endorsement

By Katharine Q. Seelye

In a surprise move, Senator Bob Casey of Pennsylvania has endorsed Senator Barack Obama in advance of the April 22 Democratic primary. Mr. Casey had said he would remain neutral in the race in part because he wanted to help broker a reconciliation between Mr. Obama and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton afterward.

“I believe in my heart that there is one person who’s uniquely qualified to lead us in that new direction and that is Barack Obama.” Mr. Casey said during a rally in Pittsburgh Friday.

“I really believe that in a time of danger around the world and in division here at home, Barack Obama can lead us, he can heal us, he can help rebuild America,” he said.

Mr. Casey is going against the grain in his state, where polls show Mrs. Clinton ahead by at least 12 percentage points and where she has the endorsement of most of the state’s major Democratic figures.

1. Either Casey is very BRAVE or the writing is on the wall!
Me? I think the writing is on the wall! Hillary is finished. End of story.

This thing is over, so you need to get behind the winning horse soon.

6. This is a message FROM super delegates
despite the fact they don't want to be the public executioner. If Hillary wants to keep pushing these people this is all she will get. Obama endorsements and urgings to quit. For several reasons her super delegates don't want to do this but they are trying to make clear they will not the circular logic rationale for her to prop up her viability in the next states.

10. Casey's Endorsement Will Have A Lot Of PA Voters Leaning Toward HRC Reconsider...
The Casey family is very popular in PA, especially with moderate democrats. His endorsement surprised me (happily) and makes a race that I've always considered closer than the polling reflects even tighter than it wold have been. This could be the difference between a close loss and a surprise win for Obama, and that would end her argument for continuing.

11. I was there! Bob Casey's endorsement was very exciting, but Obama's speech blew me away. The one
thing that suddenly struck me half way through the rally is that Barack Obama is very self-realized. He knows exactly who he is and he is comfortable with who he is. He was also incredibly humble.

12. Must have been pretty exciting, hey?
How cool is that!

I'm waiting for the youtube to able to view this endorsement....as it appears that it wasn't carried in it's totality on the Cable channels.....cause what I saw was the cable triplets breaking away from Casey's live announcement to Hillary campaigning in Indiana and Bush talking with Austrialian PM, and so I was forced to turn off my television.

14. So exciting! I'm so exhausted right now after waiting in the freezing cold for two hours before
finally making it into the building and then another hour before the speech started. I'll write more about it later but, more importantly, I'll post some pictures!

19. that's the impression I got, too. seeing him speak in person.
He is very comfortable with who he is and comes off as very authentic, very sincere. And not all full of himself, either. He listens and he cares. Doesn't believe his own press, as they say.
