I just had a thought about Obama
I'm 27 and I had a thought about one day telling my children I voted for the first black president of the United States. People we are living in historic times. It is amazing!

For Hillary supporters, I know you feel the same way about your candidate and thats fine too.

It is just amazing when I take a step back and think about it. One day Barack and Hillary will be in the history books and we can say we lived through this epic moment in history.

1. I'm 55 and I remember
people saying "one day we'll have a woman as POTUS". It sure seemed kind of far-fetched. And a black POTUS wasn't even considered!

I am so happy to see this in my lifetime.

6. I voted for Jesse Jackson in the Georgia Democratic Primary in 1988.
Jackson won the state, though I had no illusion that he would win the nomination.

When I voted for Barack Obama in the Georgia Democratic Primary in 2008, I had little more than an unpleasant feeling that I was voting for anyone but HRC. My preferred candidate, John Edwards, had just "suspended" his campaign.

It wasn't until a few days after Super Tuesday that I realized I had cast a vote for the first Black President of the United States.

That was a profound and pleasant realization. http://journals.democraticunderground.com/Laelth/18

18. Sharpton was brilliant at the debates.
Edwards and Kerry were soft-pedaling their "differences," while the Rev. was saying what I wanted to hear ... pure, unabashed liberalism.

That said, I voted for Kerry. ;)

11. you know those portraits of the presidents the display in school
and at the bank. think of seeing all the same old face of varying degrees of pale and then coming to obama's. you would know we are living in a new age and that it be a signal of how america had finally grown up and realized that all men truly are created equal.

19. Could you ever see the stale old crusty white man party
put up any minority for president? I couldn't think of a single one that would be viable. And that's how we should describe them...stale, old and crusty.

20. We can say that an oligarch elitist tried to stifle the best Democratic candidate in a generation.
That's what will be said. Hillary and her entitled elitist stifled the best Democratic candidate in 40+ years.

21. Either way, we're going to make history this year
And that's pretty exciting. I just hope we don't blow it by getting so caught up in our candidates that we don't do everything we can to help either the first African American or the first woman president get elected.
