Listening to the Clintons' doublespeak on McCain.

Witnessing the NYT trying to protect its endorsement

While Clinton was out there telling Americans how she would help get them out of the mess the country was in...Obama went on vacation to the Virgin Islands to rest up and sit in the sun...you know - Unifying.

in the middle of the fiercest political battle of his career...

Obama is smart enough to take some time to rest, check out some tranquility, and get refreshed....

takes more than 'cojones' to take off at this time....shows brains...

he knows this is a long haul...the strong-at-the-end are the WINNERS...

where half way through the race he went on vacation, even though Democratics warned him not to do it...and Lieberman beat him, gathering support while LaMont took his gaurd down. It's a fact in CT and Lamont, and it will be a fact for this race and Obama.

Obama is making Hillary's campaign look like amateur hour, and in case you forgot (which the tone of your post seems to suggest otherwise) she's losing!

and that's why the CT Democratic Party warned LaMont not to go on vacation and to fight for CT support outside the party circle, and he didn't and he lost. But he had a kick ass vacation.

What's more important? fighting for your supporters or kicking it in the sun? For LaMont and Obama it's the sun every time.

and makes a prepared public speech about being under sniper attack. Otherwise, it appears that Hilliary is the one that is in some serious need of R&R. But, I'm glad she's hanging in there, she's doing a great job of bringing a flaming end to her brief political career, and dragging the DLC down with her can only be considered icing on the cake. Clinton Ditches Campaign Trail for Caribbean
Former First Family Trades Limelight for Sunshine in Dominican Republic

By ELOISE HARPER
April 6, 2007

She's been running for three months and it's time for a break.

The Clinton family is ditching the public spotlight for private sunshine, escaping to an exclusive enclave owned by Oscar de la Renta in the renowned fashion designer's native Dominican Republic.

Life's a Beach

The former first family -- recently announced candidate, former president, and daughter Chelsea in tow -- will spend the long holiday weekend at the Punta Cana Resort and Club.

Nevada's Brian Greenspun, a publishing and real estate mogul who also serves as editor in chief of the Las Vegas Sun, will join the power couple, making the trip not entirely R&R.

Nevada is, after all, the state that stuck its presidential caucus in between Iowa and New Hampshire.

This is the first vacation Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., has taken since jumping into the presidential race.

The last Clinton getaway was to the tropical island of Anguilla with Robert Johnson, founder of Black Entertainment Television, and one of the nation's few African-American billionaires.

Sheila C. Johnson, co-founder of BET and Johnson's ex-wife, has endorsed rival Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and will host a Washington fundraiser this month to put an exclamation point on her choice.

Clinton first visited the Dominican Republic in 1999 when her husband was still in the White House. The Clintons returned as a couple in 2000, and have since made annual trips.

62. Answering the critics and skeptics
Edited on Fri Mar-28-08 09:46 AM by ProSense
regarding their reasons for not voting for Obama:

  1. He's Black

So what? I don't care if he's black, brown, white, or any other shade...

  2. 2- He's a Muslim

Well, he's not. Unfortunately, being Muslim in this country is akin to walking around with leprosy.

I was born Muslim. I am an Atheist now. However, my family consists of Christians, Jews, Muslims ........ and ME (the guy who's willing debate religion with anybody)...

  3. He belongs to a black separatist church

First, as rightly pointed below, his church is neither all black, nor "separatist."

    <...>

  4. He's not "really" black

This is the most ridiculous one...

  5. He doesn't have enough "experience"

Hmm. How do I answer this question? Let's see.

John Adams was 40, Thomas Jefferson 33, George Washington 44 when they created the United States of America. They were farmers, mostly. They did a pretty good job. So, I say maybe "youth and inexperience" as Reagan put it, are not all that bad!

    <...>

  6. He is only half-white

Please refer to my answers for numbers 1 and 4.

  7. His father was from Africa

Uhmm. Well, our fathers are all from somewhere. Mine was born in a village in Iran...

  8. His pastor is and "unpatriotic, un-American black militant"

Please refer to my answer for number 3.

  9. The only reason he is where he is, is because he is black

This objection points to 1) affirmative action and 2) all the emotion that the subject invokes in this country. There are two parts to my answer:

    Part I

Did "affirmative action" have something to do with Senator Obama's success? I'm sure it did. But, that's not a bad thing. That's a great thing.

    <...>

    Part II

This line of attack is designed to portray Senator Obama as somehow being "less capable" than his white counterparts.

  10. His wife hates America

I don't know if she hates America. I haven't heard her say that, and I haven't asked her.

I heard what she said, and sadly, I agree with her. This country, and it's politics have been on a downward spiral for a long time...

  11. His health care plan sucks

This happens to be partly true. But, then again, so does Senator Clinton's...

  12. He is a fad

I love this one. I hear it often. Guess what? In England, they thought the "rebellion in the colonies" was a fad too...

  13. He doesn't wear the flag

Thank God (wait, I don't believe in God).

I don't measure a person's patriotism by the size of his flag. I measure it by his commitment to the constitution of the United States of America.

Guess what? He taught Con Law at Chicago. After the current occupant of the White House, I think Senator Obama will be a fine choice.

Can you guess what is the extent of the commitment of the current occupant of the White House to the Constitution? NONE.

Have you read the Bill of Rights? He's gutted it. See for yourself.

    <...>

  14. He doesn't know the pledge of allegiance

Uhmm. I'm sure he does. He leads the Senate in saying the Pledge.

    <...>

  15. He doesn't know the national anthem

Please refer to the answer above, and replace "pledge" with "Anthem"

  16. He is too pacifist to be Commander in Chief

    This is my favorite. Why?

Because, taken to its most logical, but absurd conclusion, this argument essentially says that a warmonger should be Commander in Chief.

    <...>

  17. A black man can never win in the general election

This may be true. I have a feeling we'll find out this fall.

I hope this country is mature enough not to consider a man's skin color...

  18. He's young. He has time. Let him run next time.

This is merely a variation of the lack of experience. It simply reduces Senator Obama to an infant, or adolescent who should be patted on the head and sent home with a lollipop.

Please refer to the answer for number 5.

  19. Did I mention his middle name is Hussein?

This is the same as him being a Muslim. The difference is when the Muslim argument fails, then the same attackers compare Senator Obama to Saddam Hussein...

  20. Oh, yeah, he will ruin America by "running out of Iraq"

America has already been ruined by the temper tantrums of our President.

****************************

What Now?

I for one, am sick and tired of the way Senator Obama has been treated. Democracy is not a spectator sport.

<...>

Democracy is not a spectator sport.

It took me over a decade to earn the privilege of being a citizen of this great country.

I will fight for our country to my last breath. I will fight for it, by putting every ounce of my energy into electing Senator Obama our next President.

So, what am I going to do specifically?

  1. I will vote for him in the fall.

  2. I will donate my hard earned money to his campaign.

  3. I will spend my precious time raising money (A TON OF MONEY) for his campaign.

  4. I will rise up to defend him against false and malicious attacks.

Please join me. Don't wait.

If you're as mad as I am. You'll enjoy this clip. It's on my other diary as well. Thank you again for giving me your time, and reading my diary.

64.  Clinton Risks Credibility Gap Over `Fudged' Claims, Stances

Clinton Risks Credibility Gap Over `Fudged' Claims, Stances

Indira Lakshmanan Fri Mar 28

March 28 (Bloomberg) -- Hillary Clinton, accused of exaggerating her experience and reversing policy positions, risks a widening credibility gap that may undermine her bid for the Democratic presidential nomination.

The New York senator, who this week admitted to misrepresenting the danger she confronted in Bosnia, also has come under fire for allegedly distorting her role in opposing free trade and the war in Iraq, and overstating her involvement in bringing peace to Northern Ireland and health insurance to children.

The debate over these and other statements is fueling distrust among voters, according to analysts and recent polls. A Pew Research survey released yesterday showed 30 percent of white Democrats -- a group Clinton needs in order to win the remaining primaries -- regard her as a ``phony,'' twice as many as those who perceive rival Barack Obama that way. In late February, just 7.8 percent of voters surveyed by Pew described her as ``untrustworthy.''

``She's either fudged her positions or been downright disingenuous,'' said Dan Gerstein, a Democratic strategist who isn't working for any candidate. ``Any one'' episode ``wouldn't hurt her, but the accumulated weight has turned Democratic voters against her.''

Clinton spokesman Jay Carson dismisses questions about her credibility. ``She made a mistake recounting a trip she made as first lady to what was in fact a war zone,'' he said, referring to Bosnia. Voters ``don't ask for perfection, they just want to know that you are working hard for them, and no one works harder than Senator Clinton.''

71. Just read a post accusing Obama of lying about his father's
Kennedy connection because JFK wasn't elected until 1960 and Obama said his father came to the U.S. to study in 1959. In 1959 he would have been brought to the U.S. to study by SENATOR Kennedy and the "Kennedy-Kenyan Airlift."

80. How Hillary's Bosnia lie played in PA

Pennsylvania Democratic Presidential Primary

Pennsylvania: Clinton 47% Obama 42%

Tuesday, April 01, 2008

Senator Hillary Clinton’s lead in the Pennsylvania Primary is shrinking.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in Pennsylvania shows Clinton leading Barack Obama by just five percentage points, 47% to 42%. For Clinton, that five-point edge is down from a ten-point lead a week ago, a thirteen-point lead in mid-March and a fifteen-point advantage in early March.

Support for Clinton slipped from 52% early in March, to 51% in mid-month, 49% a week ago, and 47% today. During that same time frame, support for Obama has increased from 37% to 42%.

Obama recently received a key endorsement from Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey and has also spent more on television ads than Clinton. If Obama is able to pull off an upset in the Keystone State, it would effectively end the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination. Obama currently leads Clinton nationally in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll. However, while an Obama victory could end the nomination battle, Clinton remains ahead in the state and recently demonstrated her ability to finish strong in the Ohio and Texas Primaries.

<...>

Forty-seven percent (47%) say they have followed news stories Very Closely about Clinton’s Bosnia misstatements. Another 27% have followed those stories Somewhat Closely. Overall, 19% consider that issue to be Very Important in their voting decision. That figure includes 6% of Clinton supporters and 36% of Obama voters. Sixty-eight percent (68%) of Pennsylvania voters say that most politicians lie or embellish the truth when discussing their own accomplishments. Only 12% disagree.

81. Hillary's fact check on Frank Rich
Yesterday, New York Times Columnist Frank Rich falsely stated that Hillary’s comments on Bosnia were part of her prepared remarks:

“The Bosnia anecdote was part of her prepared remarks, scripted and vetted with her staff.”

The Bosnia misstatement was not in Hillary’s prepared remarks. Read more here.

82. Hmmm?
Invoking injustice meshes with Mrs. Clinton’s image of herself as a fighter. This has been a successful strategy before. Call it the New Hampshire effect. She gets backed into a corner, takes a few days to find her footing (or her voice), then fights back against a perceived injustice — the “boys’ club,” the media, the disenfranchisement of voters. This prompts an outpouring in her favor, whether because of sympathy for a perceived victim or anger at the forces against her or a belief that some injustice is in fact occurring. And then she works it, with fund-raising appeals and pleas at rallies, where she makes her fight for a cause a fight for her own survival.

<...>

Another theory: She recognizes that she probably will not win the nomination. But a couple of possibilities are at play here. One is that lightning will strike, and she will become the nominee. Or, perhaps more plausibly though counter-intuitively, she is actually helping the party by staying in.

<...>

One person whom the disenfranchisement argument may have impressed is Mr. Obama, who has not called for Mrs. Clinton to step aside. While some of his surrogates have, they have backed off in recent days. It is almost as if a tacit understanding has emerged between the two candidates that the process must play out -- not to the detriment of the party but perhaps for the good of the party.

This theory doesn’t take into account reports that as Clinton aides try to woo superdelegates, they are discussing the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., Mr. Obama’s controversial pastor from whom he has tried to distance himself. But it may partly explain why the Clinton campaign has ceased its daily political conference calls with reporters, which only stirred the pot with the Obama campaign.
