would dems be so stupid as to do that? if they would, then are they really dems?

is it just threat talk to make people go for Obama?

I find the situation bizarre.

3. 85% all talk.
One look at McSame (let alone months of it) and Democratic loyalty will surge to the surface, unbidden or not.

For supporters of both candidates.

But to look at it in a perhaps larger view, if polls from ramussaen, pew and msnbc are to be believed, the sheer number of "defections" may be greater if obama wins the nomination (i.e. these polls suggest that a larger number of her supporters might vote for mccain rather than obama than those who would vote for mccain if clinton is the nominee)Either way the question can be asked, is it talk or not? In both cases it could be a threat to the prospect of a democrat entering into the white house.

6. If the Democratic Party
Throws out the Pledged Delegates vote and just hands the nomination to Hillary at the bidding of the Big Money elite, they can pound sand.

If they don't care about my vote (or yours), why am I obliged to blindly elect who they tell me to?

Not sure what I will do, but I certainly am not going to support a party of asshats and their queen because I am supposed to.

7. If you believe that then you have to believe GOPs will vote Hillary instead of McCain
Before all the latest distractions, while the cable news media was stll working the previous distraction, it wasn't uncommon to hear all the usual bloviators blubbering and blabbering about how McCain is so hated among their ranks that they felt many would vote for Hillary Clinton first. It's all nonsense, of course. I mean, even Ann Coulter backed this idea, so you know it's the work of crank jobs.

Consider the "they'll vote for McCain!" nonsense similarly -- we're not going to vote for them and they're not going to vote for us. The Independents (the Perpetually Undecided) will ultimately vote the same way they do every election despite calling themselves "Independent." I mean, you're either for fucking people over for personal gain, or you're agin' it. You're either for a cleaner environment or you're agin' it. You're either for perpetual war-for-profit or you're agin' it.

Right now, neither side can back down...it would send a message that they're, uh...willing to back down. To blink first. So both sides have to thump their chests and hold their breath and turn blue and make threats. But in the end, we'll vote Dem and they'll vote them.

10. From my personal knowledge...
...Clinton is my last choice - McCain is not even in the running as a choice.

Obama is my brother's last choice - McCain is not even a choice for him.

My husband wants a joint ticket to stop the fighting - McCain doesn't make his list.

My sister is an Independent deciding between Obama and McCain (I have no idea if Clinton is an option).

The guy who came to do the annual termite inspection yesterday wants Clinton - thinks McCain is nuts.

Stepson and daughter in law - are split between Clinton and Obama - would never vote for McCain

I dont' think polls matter until the two nominees are campaigning head-to-head.

11. 30% of Freepers say they won't vote for McCain
About 2% of them would vote for Clinton and 3% would vote for Obama.

This is an unscientific poll, of course, but I think the bottom line is that those who actually do vote will vote for McCain, they just won't admit it.

I'm hoping that whoever is left bitter when this primary ends comes to their senses by November. It's important.

Gallup poll among Democrats...

If McCain vs. Obama, 28% of Clinton Backers Go for McCain
If McCain vs. Clinton, 19% of Obama backers go for McCain

http://www.gallup.com/poll/105691/McCain-vs-Obama-28-Clinton-Backers-McCain.aspx

The sniping and cheap-shots between Clinton and Obama supporters have got to stop, IMO.

16. Not true. Landslides have happened, and voting crossovers are common.
Johnson got a lot of Repuublican vpote in 1964. Reagan got a lot of Democratic votes in 1984. There is a long history of candidates-over-party voting among memebers of both parties. Mathematically, the only way to get a landslide is to get significant voting from the opposing party.

20. Shouldn't you be more worried about the higher number of HRC voters going to McCain?
It's not like you have to worry about her getting the nomination.

21. Agreed. Obama is by far more likely to get the nomination.
In any case, the number is not reliable yet (many Democrats will change their minds between now and November.) But the direction is of concern... I suspect this is worst than usual intended crossover from Dem to Repug.

22. I won't
Although it felt tempting after McCain defended Obama and Clinton attempted to prolongue the Wright controversy. If I had the luxury of basing it on character alone, my vote would be for McCain over Clinton. But this election is too important to vote based on anything but policy in the general, and that's why I will vote for the Democratic nominee no matter what.
