Anybody else catch that uncomfortable moment on Dan Abrams? Though I do love her answer being non apologetic when Dan singles her out (rightfully so for the sake of his network).

5. Be fair. That wasn't promoting Obama; it was a comment
Edited on Wed Mar-26-08 08:48 PM by SeattleGirl
that, as it was when it was originally said, was inappropriate to the Clinton's.

A remark against the Clinton's, appropriate or inappropriate, is not automatically a boost for Obama. And the opposite is true as well.

8. In the context of the MSNBC record since Nov 07, fair is to note that they love Obama/hate Clinton w
Tweety of late losing the race to smear Clinton to KO

As was noted tonight (by a lone voice on MSNBC) - the commentators spend the show excusing any problems which Obama has or had, while applying a different standard to Clinton.

19. No, they are MS=GOP. They want Obama as the nominee because he's the easist to Swiftboat.
Anyone who can't see that is willfully blind.

They've got their General Electric marching orders over that way....

After all, the business of GE is war, and war is good for GE's business. MS-GOP is just their propaganda arm--they don't make enough money to even bother with otherwise:

http://www.corpwatch.org/article.php?list=type&type=16

http://www.coopamerica.org/programs/rs/profile.cfm?id=231

General Electric CEO, Jack Welch, faced allegations of meddling with NBC’s coverage of the 2000 election results by insisting that the channel declare an early victory for George W. Bush. GE is the parent company of NBC, and Welch is a firm supporter of President Bush and made sizeable contributions to the Bush campaign. During an investigation of the events, Welch admitted his presence at the NBC studios for the purpose of celebrating on election night, but denied any intervention in the reporting process.

Additionally, GE Energy Rentals Inc. was awarded a contract by the Army Corps of Engineers to serve as the primary power provider and maintenance authority for U.S. military bases in Bagram and Kandahar, Afghanistan. The original contract was for the amount of $5.9 million, however only six months later, the initial contract was amended several times to increase compensation by $873,623, reaching a grand total of $6,801,493.

General Electric was implicated in CorpWatch’s War Profiteers Campaign, alongside companies such as Bechtel, Lockheed Martin, Halliburton, Northrop Grumman and Boeing. War profiteers continue to reap the benefits of conflict by producing weapons and/or lining up for lucrative government contracts for various services, using their connections to secure preference. The War Profiteers Campaign exists to educate citizens on corporate ties to military and defense money, and encourages people to contact CEOs with a message that companies must end their roles as beneficiaries from weapons production and proliferation. GE was awarded $2.2 billion worth of military contracts in 2005. The company contributed $220,950 to defense-related political campaigns during the 2004 election cycle, with 50 percent going to Democrats and 50 percent to Republicans. GE’s overall campaign contributions in 2004 totaled $1.9 million.

US: Big Media Gets Bigger

by Bill Moyers, NOW with Bill Moyers on PBS
October 10th, 2003

Big media companies keep getting bigger – with more and more power over our lives. This week's deal between General Electric (GE) and Vivendi means that GE'S NBC, which helped elect Arnold Schwarzenegger Governor of California, has just picked up not only Universal Studios, but the USA, Trio and Sci-fi cable channels, to go with CNBC and MSNBC, all now part of a $43 billion dollar empire.

Then, there's radio. The non-partisan Center for Public Integrity is out with a new study showing that in each of 43 different cities a third of the radio stations are owned by a single company. No company's supposed to own more than eight in any market, but the media giants thumb their nose at the rules all the time. In 34 of those 43 markets, one company owns more than eight stations.

The big daddy of all is Clear Channel Communications – 1200 stations altogether. In Mansfield, Ohio, Clear Channel owns eleven of the seventeen radio stations in your town. In Corvallis, Oregon, over half of what people hear is decided by Clear Channel – seven of thirteen radio stations.

Cumulus Media is the second biggest radio empire. Cumulus, remember, banned the Dixie Chicks. Cumulus owns eight of the fifteen radio stations in Albany, Georgia.

It's a similar story in television. No single company is supposed to control more than one television station per city, except in some big markets. But look at what has happened.......

32. Here we go again: "GE is eeevul, GE is eeevul, that's why everyone on MSNBC
wants Obama to be the nominee, so he can lose to McCain and they can make more eeevul defense money..."

Yawn. There's gotta be more than one note on that organ. Or a better way of supporting Hillary. Or something.

Anything and everything that they can carp about, they will carp about.

BREAKING NEWS: Obama Leaves Twelve Percent Tip at Coffee Shop!! Is he cheap, or is he unable to do basic math...what does this bode for the economy?

BREAKING NEWS: Mrs. Obama has Run in Stocking!!! Is she ready to represent the nation?

It'll be death by a thousand cuts, large and small.

Edited on Wed Mar-26-08 09:07 PM by Bigleaf
and both Hillary and Bill kiss his ass. Fucking hypocritical power hungry weasels. You see. it works like this: Schuster and Miller can offer nothing to the Clintons, McCain can. He, like them is in a position of power, and they crave power. So he gets away with it but they get all bent out of shape re: Schuster. I couldn't live with myself if I didn't fucking knock someone out for spewing shit like what McCain said re: my child. I guess the precedent was set with McCain.

16. Oh please
stop your whining about them being anti-Hillary. Before the primary season started, Ed Schultz would say EVERY DAY that any Dem candidate who wanted time on his show would have it as for as long as they wanted. They could call in anytime. Kuchinich got 3 hours; Edwards was on for at least one hour, taking calls, & all BUT Hillary continuously called in or had their surrogates call the show. Schultz would constantly ask the Clinton Campaign for a surrogate or for her to be on the show. The answer that he got, the one time his call was returned, was that "Hillary doesn't do progressive talk radio." Why the fuck not? It wasn't until New Hampshire that a surrogate appeared on the show & Hillary herself STILL hasn't called the show. So if it's all Obama all the time on Schultz' show, guess what? IT'S HER OWN DAMN FAULT!

As for Stephanie, she has ALWAYS said she would vote for Hillary if she were the nominee but until then, it's Mama for Obama. Still, several Clinton surrogates have been on her show & she's always treated them with courtesy & respect.

As for Randi, I don't listen to her show, so I can't answer to that.

But, FFS, stop whining about Schultz & Miller & start asking your girl why she won't go on these shows.

Best part of the segment was Bill Press telling the poor Kid that asked Chelsea that he was out of line and his question was disgusting. Bill Press was saying something to the effect that family members should be off limits -- 15 minutes after bashing Michelle Obama.

20. I do agree with Bill, though, when he asked the kid why he didn't
ask Hilary that question.

I know I'm reacting in part as the mother of a daughter who is Chelsea's age, but I do think it's inappropriate to ask someone's kid about the indiscretions of their parent(s) if the parents are still around.

I don't think my daughter should have to answer a question about something I said, or did, or how I felt about something that was a huge embarrassment to me. I should be the one to address it.

And yes, I know Chelsea is campaigning for her mother, but she still should not have to answer for something her dad did, or how her mother felt about it, or if it diminished Hilary in some way.

And if, as this guy said, "People my age want to know...." well, ask Hilary and Bill.
