Poll question: How would you characterize referring to Hillary Clinton as "Hitlery"?
It's been suggested that namecalling is indicative of 'hatred', so I'd just like to ask how many people agree.

Please do not respond to the poll without including some explanation, no matter how brief. I'd like this poll to be validated.

Thanks!

"Feminazi," "Hitlery," the "Halfrican," I hate it that I even know those Limbaugh terms, and I would not use them in any context that suggests I endorse them.

2. It's hateful. As far as I know, Limbaugh is the source.
It couples nicely with his other choice term, Feminazi. I believe that Limbaugh hates women, or at least hates strong women who care vigorously about women's rights.

I'm no HRC fan, but freeper types who I've discussed her with are the ones who call her "Hitlery" and they compare her to Stalin and Mao and some of the other all-time mass murderers throughout history, which is beyond ludicrous. So I can't chalk it up to just ignorance, or just stupidity, or just sexism, but a combination of all three with a complete willfull ignorance of history and a kind of infantile psychosis.

My explanation is that I think it is stupid to compare anyone, Hillary or even Bushie, to Hitler, and that those who use that comparison are similar to those who fill their posts on anonymous internet blogs and forums with unnecessary profanity - they don't have anything really meaningful to say.

And, if you don't like my reasoning, then go FUCK yourself you fucking motherfuckers... (oops)

1. Hitler, in our current pop culture, looked at as funny as often as he is looked as taboo. If we were on a message board that was predominantly German, this would obviously not be the case

2. The name is used largely just on the merit of how it sounds, how the name Hillary melds into it.

It's not meant to really say Hillary is evil.

I would likewise, not consider it hateful for people to call Obama O"stalin"a, or Bar"hitler"ack. Although, obviously, it doesn't really fit.

63. Well, Hitler was responsible for the deaths of about 30 million people.
Edited on Wed Mar-26-08 08:47 PM by New Dawn
When you consider the Holocaust and the deaths from his illegal wars of aggression against Poland, USSR, etc.

Clinton, with her vote for the illegal Iraq War, is only responsible for about 1 million deaths. Her husband, Bill, is responsible for another 1 million deaths too (the Iraq sanctions killed about that many).

So it is true that she is not as evil as Hitler. But she is still evil. So are Bush, Cheney, McCain, Lieberman, etc.

76. That's a disgusting comment
To compare anyone to Hitler is distasteful, and to compare Clinton to him just for voting for a war that would have passed without her support is outrageous. It trivializes how brutal and evil Hitler was. Are you saying all of the Senate Democrats who voted for the resolution should be equated with Hitler or deemed "evil"? Is Tom Harkin evil? Is John Kerry evil? Do they warrant comparisons to Hitler?

77. I never said that Hillary = Hitler.
That is why I explained that the Clintons, combined, are only responsible for about two million dead and not 30 million like Hitler.

However, she (and Bill) are definitely responsible for the deaths of around two million Iraqis. And yes, I think that qualifies them as being "evil." Just take a look at some of the pictures of the Iraqi civilians that been brutally murdered by the US occupation in torture camps. Or read about the little girls who have been raped and murdered in the most horrible ways by the occupation forces. Any millionaire politician like Hillary who voted to authorize that damned illegal war is evil in my book.

I think that if we do not reject those monsters, then we are no better than them.
