Bill Clinton on Democratic Heat: Saddle Up!
Says at Parkersburg, West Virginia event that he doesn’t see an end to Clinton-Obama fighting anytime soon, doesn’t think aides, surrogates who make attacks should be forced to resign.

“If a politician doesn’t wanna get beat up, he shouldn’t run for office. If a football player doesn’t want to get tackled or want the risk of an a occasional clip he shouldn’t put the pads on.”

“All these guys that say bad things about any other campaign, they say, ‘Should they resign?’ My answer is no; they’re repeating party line. They oughta stay right where they are. Let’s just saddle up and have an argument. What’s the matter with that? That’s what America’s about, right?”

1. Tell that to all of his wife's supporters
They're the ones on here complaining and asking people to stop being mean to their candidate.

If Lord Obama can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. If he wins the nomination, which I doubt, the repuke are going to make him bleed. He's a thin skinned wannabe!

9. He's wrong. If it was just us slugging it out, that would be fine.
But, it's not. It's us slugging it out and the Republican media taking notes and damaging both candidates.

Voters like winners. If they think both Obama and Clinton are too damaged to win, they'll leave in droves.

And Bill Clinton knows that.

3. Except when your wife says that the GOP nominee is qualified to be president but her Dem opponent
isn't. That is beyond a "good fight" it's in effect endorsing the GOP candidate.

5. Wasn't it Clinton's campaign who started demanding Samantha Powers be fired for her comment?

14. Not exactly.
What they said was that Obama said he didn't believe in that kind of politics and if anyone from his campaign was caught making an attack on another candidate, he or she would be fired.

So after Power called Clinton a monster, the Clinton people said, "We're waiting..."

Clinton Campaign: Fire Samantha Power

The Clinton campaign gathered Congress members Nita Lowey, Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Gregory Meeks on a conference call this morning to demand that Barack Obama sever his campaign's ties to senior adviser and Pulitzer-prize-winning academic Samantha Power after she called Hillary Clinton a “monster” in an interview with a Scottish newspaper.

Congresswoman Lowey of New York opened by saying, “We feel so strongly that this is a long way that we have to go in this campaign, and it's likely to go all the way to Denver. Personal attacks are not the way to go.” She went on, “We’re calling on Senator Obama to make it clear that Samantha Power should not be part of this campaign.”

Lowey later said, “This is an important test for Senator Obama….it’s really a test of character. This comment set a tone.” She then added, “I think Senator Obama has to make a public statement and separate himself from Samantha Power.”

Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida came on the line next and told reporters who were listening in, “Senator Obama set a tone for this campaign and talked about the politics of hope.” She added “those kinds of comments are not appropriate for a senior advisers.” Schultz reduced Powers’ comments to “the result of frustration and anger over his losses on Tuesday.”

19. Yep
But you have to understand the real meaning behind the Clinton logic here. It's the old do as I say, not as I "do" tactic. They play the victim, put all the blame on the "other" guy. and make speeches like Bill did to try and make them look good.

Of course for this tactic to work they have to have supporters that will no question anything they say, and who will go to the ends of the earth to defend Hillary, no matter what the facts show. They must accept everything she says, make excuses when she is caught in a lie, and of course label the other side as "cult" followers.

7. Hillary wont last long now that she's being asked to her face about getting out
I've seen two seperate instances on the news where she was taking questions and was asked if she thought she should get out instead of damaging the party.

Thats a sign that the pressure is mounting on her to quit.

And it is not coming back. You're tilting at windmills.
