Get over your reservations about Kerry and get with the program!
You know who you are. The very purpose of this website is to get rid of Bush. Period. You might have supported one or another of the other nine Democratic candidates (I supported Howard Dean). You might even, for some misguided reason, support Ralph Nader. Get over it, for the good of the country.

Getting rid of Bush is the most important thing we stand for. Everything else fades into insignificance in comparison to the very important business of replacing Crawford TX's village idiot.

So Kerry might not be as far left as many of you would like. Get over it. So Kerry might support writing another check for Iraq until such time as he can do something about the situation as Commander In Chief. Got another suggestion? No? Get over it.

So Kerry isn't into going stark raving mad (as we all feel) in his advertising and in his stump speeches, launching blistering tirades at Bush. That's not his job. That's OUR JOB.

Kerry's not perfect. I already know that. You don't have to repeat it over and over and over again. That will NOT accomplish a damned thing. Unless you want to put up with Bush for a second term, one in which he will not be accountable (thanks to the 22nd Amendment) to anyone, not Congress, not the courts, not the angry mob assembling at the Mall, I strongly suggest, in the bluntest terms possible so that EVERYONE can understand the gravity of my suggestion, that we put away our relatively piddling differences between what we individually might consider our dream candidate and the one we nominated, and GET WITH THE PROGRAM. It we don't, we WILL regret it, I guarantee it.

1. And don't even think about Nader.
Nader is not an option. He's an obstruction. We should print that on a bumper sticker.

2. Is Nader on any ballots yet?
Just asking..

This is a pretty strong Green state, and a lot of the Greens have a sentimental attachment to Nader. I haven't seen a single person out collecting signatures to get him on the ballot, and this is a battleground state, the kind he said he was going for.

Is he just the bogeyman, or is something really illegal going on at the state election boards to get him onto the ballot?

3. Kerry's Hard to Like
Yes, Kerry is a thousand times preferable to Bush, but he's so hard to like. I won't go through the charges and specifications, but there are many valid objections to his candidacy. The Kerry presidency is shaping up as a big disappointment.

5. I heard the same things about Gore
and look where that kind of thinking got us

You don't have to like Kerry (he wasn't my first choice either) but do you want more Scalias on the Supreme Court? And do you want war with Syria?

6. Oh, don't be such a Cassandra.
Kerry's presidency is still way up in the air. He's a very capable person.

11. Fifty Different Elections
There are fifty different elections, one in each state. New York State is so lopsidedly blue that my vote can't possibly matter. I'm off the hook entirely.

Kerry is so hard to like.

13. 50 different elections, but ONE DU.
So you live on the Left Coast, New England, or some Red State purgatory. That does NOT excuse you from spreading your excrement all over DU where people in the rest of the country can read it. You want to do that, go to some Nader board and do it.

You'd think four years of that stupid idiot from Texas would be enough to convince everyone.

It doesn't make a difference who reads this. I find Kerry hard to like, and I don't care who objects.

18. Big Disappointment
You want a big disappointment? Wake up on January 20 to see George Bush sworn in for another four years.

Kerry is our candidate, our hope.

4. Good point.
"So Kerry isn't into going stark raving mad (as we all feel) in his advertising and in his stump speeches, launching blistering tirades at Bush. That's not his job. That's OUR JOB."

We all share in helping to get him elected. That means talking up his candidacy and talking down Bush's. Moaning above how he's not left enough is BS. He is a strong Democrat who will support our progressive/liberalagenda.

Assuming Kerry is elected, I suspect that the base will be extremely energized in pushing out the RW agenda that has been foisted uponve us. I beleve electing Kerry will be a start in the process to take back our government by getting a progressive agenda implemented.

The effect of discussions here at DU on who is elected, or how they are perceived nationally, is nominal or non-existent. I see no problem with discussing (this is a discussion board, non?) John Kerry's warts, perceived or otherwise.

Moreover, I see the ability to discuss the flaws(subjective) in our leaders as a main differentiating principle between Dems and Pugs. If "getting with the program" means ignoring issues and policies that will impact the direction that this country is going to take, count me out.

Just think its funny but I do believe in talking about our candidate critically.

I just don't like knee-jerk reactionary bashing and misquotes I have seen occasionally here.

14. Oh really?
Getting us into unnecessary wars by lying through his teeth, where the real reasons are more personal than in the national interest? You think Kerry would do that? I hope the DEA is hot on the trail of the guy who sold you whatever it is you're smoking.
