I decided to vote for Kerry in September of 2004
After the media brought down Dean by playing the "scream" over and over, I was bitter. Not at Kerry per say, but at the party, and the way the party establishment had acted to stop the outsider and the grassroots supporters who had fueled his rise.

I always wanted Kerry to win against Bush, but it wasn't until New Jersey started to look competitive (an annual stunt Republicans pull to scare us into spending money there), that I woke up and realized that my original plan to write in Dean was petty and wouldn't accomplish anything. I never would have considered not voting for Kerry if I thought my vote would matter, but before I realized that it might matter, I'm not sure what I would have said if a pollster asked how I was going to vote.

My point is, I am concerned about the Gallup poll today showing a high rate of defections for both Democrats, but I am hoping that regardless of who the eventual nominee is, most of us will fall in line, just as we did in 2004. I hope that most of us will wake up as I did in 2004 and remember the uninsured, the soldiers in Iraq, the people who have lost their homes and can't wait four more years for the government to take action. I hope that most Democrats will come to recognize how conservative McCain really is once we have a nominee who can go after him. I hope most of us will remember that a vote is not simply an endorsement of a candidate but an endorsement of a platform that we all believe in. I can only hope...

2. Plus - when folks watch the debates, that usually settles it for any REAL Democrat.

3. People think the stuff that happens on this board stays here.
WRONG.

No one forgets cruelty and people talk to others who never come here.

Thanks for your thoughts democrattotheend. I think we might be in the middle of a Troll War here; please consider trying to get a grip on some of your fellow Obama "supporters".

I promise that I will try hard not to enflame things any more than they already are.

Solidarity!

4. I voted against Bush in '00 & '04.
The defectors may be the repub crossovers bailing out, as was predicted. I don't know.
But despite all the yelling and screaming and foot stomping in GD-P, I suspect no one
in their right mind in GD-P or the Dem party wants another rethug in the WH.

Hell; even the GOP doesn't want to re-elect Repubs!! LOL! :P

Republican senators with millions of dollars in their campaign accounts have given little or nothing
to the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), despite its desperate pleas for cash funds.

More..

5. I agree, but it's been a long hard slog.....
for some of us. I voted for Gore in 00, to have it stolen away. I supported Dean in 04, only to see him ruined by the msm for projecting his voice to a packed, noisy room, just trying to encourage his enthusiastic supporters to keep the faith. Now, once again, I have to watch my candidate being slammed daily by repub talking points coming from members of his own party, which have been fueled and encouraged by his fellow candidate, the hildebeast.

I ended up holding my nose and voting for Kerry in 04, but I'm not sure I can do it again this time. The previous wounds are too fresh.

6. thank you.
When people take a really good look at McCain, I think they'll say, "I can't vote for him."

7. I just finished an article in Vanity Fair about Bush's Three Trillion Dollar War.
After reading it, I have to say that I have no interest in speaking to anyone, or listening to anyone telling me they'll vote for McCain in November if their preferred Democratic nominee does not win the primary.

When will people wake up, that this election is not about them personally, but about America as a whole?

This argument makes me shake in anger, even more so than I did against the Naderites in 2000, now that we've seen all that the GOP has wrought.
