Damn, another nasty ad by Bush against Kerry
this one goes through editorials from various newspapers and ends, "Kerry is the most liberal in the senate--more liberal than Hillary Clinton and Kennedy." Then the last sentence is the problem with Kerry is that "it's not that people don't know him, it's that they do." Well, I say RIGHT-BACK ATCHA Bush---we KNOW YOU TOO AFTER THESE LAST FEW YEARS OF HELL!! New leadership is what we need.

Everytime I see one of Bush's attack ads it takes me back to when Bush ran against Ann Richards for governor. He has nothing to run on just attack.

I don't know if I'm gonna make it to November. I'm wearing out the "mute" button.

1. That ad has been around for a white, but nonetheless the lies in them are
outrageous. Most of Bush's ads have been stating that Kerry specifically voted against body armor for the troops, supplies, etc. etc.

You know how he says this? Simply because Kerry - and smartly I should add - voted against throwing another $87 billion into this war. The spending on body armor was a miniscule portion of this wasteful package, and as a senator you can't nitpick through the provisions; it's all or nothing.

3. I noticed that part of the ad too...
...if "liberal" is a bad word to somebody, they probably aren't going to vote for Kerry anyhow. On the other hand, if you're looking for a liberal the Bushistas have just delivered one.

9. Not true
Many people think the word "liberal" is bad but the word "Bush" is worse.

4. I think the democratic party should defend the term "liberal."
If you support Social Security, you may be a liberal.

If you support public education, you may be a liberal.

If you support a social safety net, you may be a liberal.

If you support a fiscally responsible government, you may be a liberal.

If you support Medicare, you may be a liberal.

If you support equal opportunity, you may be a liberal.

If you support a strong military, you may be a liberal.

If your politics are not motivated by hatred, you may be a liberal.

If you love your country more than you love your money, you may be a liberal.

5. Let them keep wasting money
on really crappy, annoying ads. They may have driven Kerry's negatives up a bit, but they really haven't been able to bring Kerry down in the polls. Bush really isn't moving. It seems as though he's at a ceiling of 45%.

Meanwhile Kerry has released extremely well done ads. I was impressed by them. Very inspirational actually.

6. Trouble is...
... that the set of ads with the equipment disappearing on the troops because Kerry allegedly voted against it, even though they are an incredible distortion of the truth, are dynamite ads, and they hit a raw nerve: the middle-roaders think the Dems are soft on defense.

It's a good red meat strategy for the GOP to run those ads. These other ones where they just whine about Kerry being liberal are completely ineffective for all the reasons other posters have given.

8. To the GOP's credit, it's a good strategy and a fair point in politics...
And when it comes time for the debates, Kerry will have to answer for that vote. On the other hand, Bush will have MUCH more to answer for... like why the troops still aren't getting the proper equipment after the $87 billion was passed.

10. Kerry when asked about being a liberal in the past.
Direct quotes I believe:

“If the worst thing they can say about me is that I’m a liberal, well, then, bring it on,” Kerry said.

Also, following his wins in Iowa and New Hampshire, he said something to the effect of

"If wanting better schools makes me a liberal, then yeah, I am a liberal."
