Update from Asile 11
Edited on Mon Mar-24-08 07:04 PM by horseface
I went to the grocery store with my son after school today. I was wearing my Obama t-shirt and was almost done when I got stuck looking at yogurt. A man approached me and said, "I think hes gonna do it!" This struck up a conversation about Obama. It turns out this man has been a Republican his whole life but come the GE if its Obama vs. McCain hes going with Obama. This is in Arizona, McCain country.
We talked for about 20 minutes. He said that at first last year when he saw the list of who was running he got to Obama and said sarcastically, "Yeah, Right. THIS guy is going to be the nominee. Next!" But as hes had a chance to listen to him with an open mind he has really come to like him. He thinks he just has common sense. He is also pissed off that he has to buy things for his childrens school while 'the US government is spending millions overseas, somehwere else.' He thinks Bush has ruined the country.

He also gave a good word for John Edwards, dosent like Hillary Clinton and thinks an Obama/Biden ticket would be unbeatable. And finally we agreed that when the first debate comes between Obama and McCain and people see the contrast between the two, its over. Hes been to three McCain fundraisers and said there is no way he will beat Obama.

Thats All!

2. Hello, fellow Arizonan!
I live in the Phoenix area and I'm experiencing the Obama shift among the Reps too.
I see more Obama bumperstickers than any other.
Let's continue to hope the Reps come to their senses and make the change for this country's sake.

Im in Tucson. I think a good amount will. It was really refreshing to talk to a grounded repub.... as opposed to my family for instance who is still.... very much on the right.

4. It can be tough living around Reps but
we will prevail in Nov and things will get better. Most of my family is Democratic but I have one lost brother who is Rep. I haven't talked to him in years. We have nothing in common any more. It's kinda sad.

6. That's awesome
Thank you for sharing that story! I think there are many Republicans out there highly unhappy with Bush, and certainly displeased with McCain.

Obama just has the appeal, that's been proven time and time again this election.

My brother, who is a life long staunch Republican, in the Naval Reserves, said he is seriously thinking of voting for Obama.
