How many Kucinich supporters are still here on DU?
Sign in please...I was curious about this for awhile and the Dean supporters thread prompted me to start one for Dennis.

Are you still posting here on DU as much or have you found other boards??

DK is da man......

so i started a thread thinking it would drop like a rock. no way man, kucinich people get it, they came with their positive energy. and for the people who did not think dk had anything to offer............look no further than iraq. listen to the man, and when he is the defacto leader of the house next year, call your rep., tell him/her to get off his/her ass and work with dennis kucinich.

love to the kucitizens who die hard!

I was just curious...I see a fair number of DK avatars and its nice to know ya'll are still here. I get discouraged by the news so often anymore but knowing that Dennis gets up every morning and has hope and a strong conviction that he (WE) can all make a difference really keeps me going.

So :hi: all and

We are diehards and proud of it!!

when many others told us he was out of touch, too short, too left, too single, totally unelectable.....you name we heard it here. We are the most left of this board and I can tell you it has become much less left since Kerry has become the "nominee" du jour....there have been times I have felt unwelcome here...so I am always happy to see my friends still here...

6. Here!
I don't post as much; usually only when I'm avoiding unpleasant chores, lol. But I check in regularly. No other boards; I have a long email list to sort through every day, and then off to real life. I am a member on some others, but mainly lurk. Except for the professional board that I moderate. It's been deadly quiet the last year; the only teachers who have anything to say are the newbies. The rest of us are hanging on, grimly, while we watch public ed implode around us. No time or inclination for chatting.

10. I didn't attend a ceremony;
I tried to contact the closest gathering, but got no response. So I headed to the hills for a solitary meditation. Caught the attention of a curious coyote, who sat calmly and watched me for awhile.

The girls are great; in superb condition. Mom is rarin' to go, and the best trail horse on the ranch, daughter is 3 and doing ground work; she's mentally ready, but I'll wait awhile longer to let her bones close up before I climb aboard for the first time. It was a short, early spring; the hills have already gone brown and the place is heating up fast. Looks like a long summer ahead!

16. I'm still here!
Several weeks ago I went proudly to my district convention as a Kucinich delegate and we had enough support to send 7 delegates on to the State Convention!

Our message at the convention was that we will support Kerry, but believe that Dennis' message is crucial for the Democratic Platform and must be heard at the Democratic National Convention.

He is a true visionary that we (the country) are just not ready for... and that's too bad, because we need some foresight and integrity.

19. Still here, still fighting, taking it to state and (possibly) BOSTON!!!
We've got the most DK delegates in the 48 contiguous states going to Boston from MN (including at least two DUers, BTW), and a number of state-bound delegates. We are now in leadership positions in the party at ALL levels, and we're shaping the direction that the DFL will go in for the next several years.

I myself screened for a position on the party's board of directors today, and I'll know whether I made it or not at the convention in two weeks.

Our organization here in Minnesota gets bigger and stronger every day-- we've probably DOUBLED in size since the March 2 caucuses! We're already making plans for this fall and beyond.

As Dennis has said, this is about much more than who wins November 2. It's about what we need to do on November 3rd to bring our shared vision to fruition.

WE are the change we've been waiting for! We need to stand up and KEEP FIGHTING for our issues and values.

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

A lot of liberals are being run out of the DU by the freepers and conservatives. And at times it appears that the liberals aren't wanted here.

But I'm hanging in here for now. I'm backing Dennis through the convention and after that, I'll work to back his agenda.

29. I voted for DK
and I was a delegate for him up to the senate convention.

I will be going with Kerry at the state convention.

I will say that early on I had thoughts about voting Nader, but then I thought about the SCOTUS. You see I am white, lower upper class, doing pretty well. I could afford to vote Nader. Though I thought about the people I care about some of whom are not well off financially, homosexual, not white, not of the regimes religion. They can't afford this shit to continue.

Same for those in Iraq and other nations on the regimes hit list.

I'm going to support Kerry from this point onward, even though I agree more with DK and (to a lesser extent) Nader. Bush needs to go.

I am very sincerely thinking that Kerry's less than desirable stances are only being taken to win this election, and that once he gets in the white house he will move more to the left. Even if that is not the case it will still be a far better situation than what he have now.

Anyway, I understand your desire to vote Nader. But please think about what is at stake here.

69. Thinking is good
I think that a candidates campaign statements echo his intentions.

I think that a candidates voting record is important and gives a pretty good indication of what his term of office will consist of.

I think that the american people have been sold out by the neoconservatives running the democratic party and Kerry is their guy.

I think that there are a majority of the electorate not bothering to participate any longer as they perceive the lack of concern about their wishes from their government.

I think that the two party system is a sham and a fraud.

I think that the leaderhsip of the democratic party voted for the war, for the Patriot Act, for a phoney education bill and against the best interests of the american people.

I think that the voice of dissent has been banished from the democratic party in favor of wooing the corporate buck.

I think that Ralph Nader sounds more like an old time democrat than do 99% of the current real democrats.(votenader.org and see for yourself)

I think that it is time to understand that you and I are nothing to either party. They are both far to focussed on big money.

I think that I will vote for Ralph Nader and be true to my vision for America

but I don't post that often. I use to visit everyday and have been a member since early 2001.

Since probably November of last year I have found that my voice and others are not heeded or are berated for standing out from the herd. I can get that anywhere. DU IMO use to be different.

An echochamber is something I can live without so I visit more rarely and post even less. I hope that DU can regain some of its shime again and rage against the machine.

But maybe it won't. Many here seem to like it fine, YMMV.

48. lucky Maine
I saw somewhere that Dennis is going to appear at Maine convention. We have our Minnesota DFL convention that same weekend and we get Dot in the house, which is great, but hard to compare to Dennis.

Does there remain any possibility of getting national DK delegates out of Maine? I hope so, although I thought the fix was in sometime ago against DK delegates from ME despite his excellent ME showing. (Issue was percentage of DK delegates below 15% despite presidential preference vote being above 15%).

yes, we are lucky. I will be meeting with him Friday May 21, while helping to decorate, organize and do whatever is need for Saturday.

there's a very good chance of DK delegates. We're working toward convincing the number of Undecided Delegates and, other delegates whose candidates are no longer in the race to give DK their support.

55. Still here, still fighting for the Kucinich agenda--
--within the Democratic party now. WA state has 2-4 national delegates for Dennis, and we are working on more. Final word after the congressional district caucuses on 5/29.

Getting a lot of petitions signed. I had the most astonishing experience tabling at the King County Democratic convention last weekend. A woman from Marysville (small town), came to the table and signed the WTO/NAFTA petition, highly motivated on the issue. Then she said "Didn't Kucinich used to be the mayor of Cleveland? What office is he running for?" I kept as straight a face as I could, my biochem prof face that I put on when a student asks how many bonds carbon has. (It has four, and you really need to take organic chem first instead of trying to do it concurrently with biochem.) I explained that he was running for president, and gave her CDs and literature, which she is enthusiastic about sharing with her friends. Too bad our precinct caucuses were on Feb. 7th. A good illustration of what we have been up against all along--WA state is comparatively well organized, and still someone motivated enough to show at a county convention doesn’t know about our guy.

Good thing I’m in it for the long haul.

Also, if you have any extra literature, send it up to Alaska. Alaska is still facing the situation of improving DK's standing up through the caucus levels to the convention. The Anchorage coordinator could use any spare literature you have. Everything to Alaska has to go by air, so 2nd day priority is best. (Boxes and envelopes for this are freebies at the Post Office.)

His address is
Thomas Higgins
4005 Wyoming Dr
Anchorage, AK 99517

66. great story
It is indeed amazing run into democratic party activists at local conventions who are not aware of the fact that Kucinich is a presidential candidate.

Still many more have heard of Kucinich presidential bid but assume it is a joke due to primarily to media potrait. Many don't have a clue about the issues the campaign continues to promote.

Its been fun here in MN to see the confusion amongst some democratic party regulars when DK supporters show up in sizeable numbers at senate district/county unit and congressional district conventions. Some are confused because they assume Dennis has dropped out and are puzzled by all the DK supporters. What is it that the DK folks want, they query? What is the point, they mutter.

At my congressional district convention, when Rep. Sabo told the body that he would sign on to the department of peace bill, puzzlement gave way as at least 1/3 of the assembly stood for a hearty cheer.

Many are still behind the curve, but like Rep. Sabo they will catch up eventually. At least, in the long haul.

72. You're story's also very good!
You forgot to add that, after 1/3 of the floor got up to applaud Sabo's support of the bill, the REST of the convention (200+ delegates) got on their feet, too! It was a very cool sight!!!

Also, I hear Maine is still fighting to get some DK delegates, too. Apparently they have 14.8% of the delegates going into the state convention, and they need just another 0.2% of the uncommitteds to get a delegate-- this is part of the reason why Dennis will be at Maine's state convention (instead of Minnesota's).

73. Does it have to be statewide?
Kucinich got 8% statewide in WA, but 15%-30% in some areas. The allotment is going to be by percentages achieved in congressional districts. On that basis, CD 2 has 1 national delegate and maybe 2, CD 7 has 2 national delegates, and CD 6 has exactly enough to get 1.

65. still with DK
voted for him in the SC primary. Saddens me to see how he's been regarded at this "progressive" site. I think we are doomed if this is the best we can do.

67. Still here
Not really in this forum, though.

Certain posters with a taste for ridicule finally soured me on this forum a while back.

I'm out in the middle of nowhere in Mexico right now (but with internet access, of course!), but had to post on this thread.

70. I don't post often,
but I read DU everyday. And, yes, I voted for Dennis in Louisiana's primary. It really felt good to vote for him, and I will definetly vote for Kerry in November.

75. Still Here
Still for Dennis. I don't have time to post much but will be proud to cast my vote for Dennis Kucinich next week in the Oregon primary. I finally got to meet him a couple of weeks ago at an awsome rally, I think he will do great in Oregon.

I'm still supporting him.

I just don't bother much with posting about the primaries, campaigns, etc.
