National Review: Hillary Camp seemed awfully certain Obama had never been to one of those countries

Now, I'm not saying that the Hillary camp did the snooping in the passport file. But in asking that question, they seemed awfully certain that Obama had never been to one of those countries earlier in his life, didn't they? Note they didn't say, "you have traveled to only one NATO country as a senator", (it wouldn't be all that surprising that Obama had only taken a few foreign trips since taking office in January 2005); they worded the question so that it encompasses his entire life.

The question came from the Hillary camp on March 12; two of the breaches were before that date. One breach occurred two days later.

1. For now, I blame the Bush government.
The Republicans have a long history of violating the rule of law along with others privacy. McCarthy did it, J. Edgar Hoover did it, Reagan did it, Nixon did it, Bush I did it and Bush II is doing it right under our noses. I'm not going to jump to any conclusions on Clinton. It was probably easy enough to find out where Obama had traveled without a security breach. It was Bush/Cheney.

2. Motive
The Clinton campaign has just as much motive to be involved in something like this as the repooplicans.

10. Not really. This could made to look like Clinton so we keep at each other's throats.
Thus helping the Repubs. Just as plausible, if not more so.

5. This is garbage.
It doesn't belong on DU, let alone on the Greatest page.

This information could not be gleaned from Obama's passport records. The State Department does not keep travel records on individuals.

She would not be able to deduce that Obama had not gone to a specific country based on these documents.

8. For anyone skeptical of the National Review, how about Hillary's own website:
http://www.hillaryclinton.com/news/release/view/?id=6495

"As voters evaluate you as a potential Commander-in-Chief, do you think it's legitimate for people to be concerned that you have traveled to only one NATO country, on a brief stopover trip in 2005, and have never traveled to Latin America?"

16. Obama and Latin America
Oppenheimer: Obama and Clinton: Pluses, minuses on Latin America issues
Andres Oppenheimer
Miami Herald
Article Last Updated: 02/19/2008 06:41:38 PM MST

Now that Sen. Barack Obama is the front-runner for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination, it's time to answer a question that many U.S. Hispanics and Latin Americans are asking: Would he be good for Latin America?
On the minus side, Obama has never been to Latin America, as he told me in an interview last year. And when I asked him who are the three Latin American leaders he respects the most, it took him a while to scan through his mental C-drive and respond, ''the president of Chile,'' whom he correctly identified as a woman but failed to mention by name. (I didn't press him about the remaining two.)
