Just in case "some" are trying to link a statement that Hillary made about Obama's Travels
to her stealing his passport...she referenced a trip in 2005. One that was paid for BY US. She hardly needed to risk hiring moles to infiltrate Bush's state department to steal information that was public record.
Now...someone MIGHT ask HOW MSNBC got the info on his travel and costs...

Obama most costly freshman world traveler
First term senator's charges nearly 45% higher than his classmates

WASHINGTON - Barack Obama's two years in the Senate have taken him around the world, from Russia to Iraq to Kenya - an itinerary more costly to taxpayers than any other senator who took office with him.

The Illinois Democrat's travels in 2005 and 2006 cost taxpayers nearly $28,000 as he studied nuclear proliferation, AIDS, Middle Eastern violence and more.

Eight other freshmen senators took office in 2005, and about $19,200 was the most anyone spent for government-paid travel, according to reports filed with the Senate Office of Public Records

>>>snip
Obama, who announced his candidacy Saturday for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination, was one of two freshmen members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in the 109th Congress. He spent $18,822 in per diem and transportation costs in 2006 as he visited Middle East hotspots and toured Africa. The previous year he spent $8,313 visiting the former Soviet Union and the United Kingdom.

The freshman with the next greatest spending on taxpayer-funded trips was Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., whose visits included China, Russia and the Middle East at a cost of about $19,200. Ranking third was freshman Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., who spent $17,867 to visit China and Kuwait, among other places. Neither is a member of the Foreign Relations Committee.

3. he "studied nuclear proliferation, AIDS, Middle Eastern violence and more": commendable
And I believe he introduced legislation on most of those subjects, too.

I guess he's more ready to answer that 3 am phone call than Hillary is suggesting.

By the way, members of the Foreign Relations committee tend to travel more than those on, say, Government Affairs or Judiciary.

4. The *point* is that the media had his travel itinerary
It was on the record in Congress...the taxpayers paid for it.
Hillary did NOT have to hire moles to infiltrate the State Dept as some of your more overzealous compadres have suggested.

5. That isn't what interests me
Not that they know about a trip, but that they know it was the *only one* to a NATO nation.

Because Canada ain't far. He's never been there? Would someone know that?

Maybe. There is likely an easy explanation. I'd just like to know it.

I'm not accusing the Clintonistas of anything. It is highly improbable they'd have anything to do with this.

But it is important to establish that, if only to shut down speculation.

7. Yes...you and your band of buddies ARE accusing the Clintons
and since he travels with Congressmen...then his travel plans are not mysterious.

8. No....you're not getting it.
If it's his only trip to a NATO nation, *in his life*, not just while he has held office, how was that information knowable?

And don't accuse me of making any accusations. You don't shit about me.

Like I said, I'm fairly certain Clinton had nothing to do with it. It's highly unlikely. But I'd like to establish that.

10. I don't have an agenda here
How clear can I make it? The original post was interesting, and there is probably a rational explanation for it. Looking for it helps us find it out.

You give me one more obnoxious reply and I'll just put you on ignore. I am not going to waste any more mental energy on someone who insists I'm acting in bad faith.

Maybe that's available somewhere, I'm just curious where.

Cause that would end this conversation.

15. 28k is money well spent on a freshman senator, in my book
The same funds spent by the pentagon buys a couple of toilet seats and some washers.

16. Apples and Oranges. What did OTHER MEMBERS OF FOREIGN RELATIONS
spend on travel?

You seem SHOCKED ... SHOCKED ... that a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee would have higher travel expenses than Senators who did not belong to that committee.

And wouldn't a "Freshman" Senator on that Committee have to travel more than a more senior member, who would have done most of her traveling in past years?

What a crock.
