If this year's Prez election result is the reverse of 2000...
with Kerry winning the electoral vote and Bush the popular vote, would the Repukes run a guerrilla campaign against Kerry, like Andrew Jackson did against John Q Adams? Bush has thought of himself as Andrew Jackson, but Jackson had more democratic principles than Bush.

Zogby suggested it might be possible for Bush to carry the popular vote but lose the election, the reverse of what happened in 2000 when Gore had more than a half million votes more than Bush.

1. Not going to happen.
The only way for * to win is to steal it again. In which case he won't get the popular vote.

2. Bush isn't going to win

the popular vote. It's very unlikely that Bush will have gained over 50 milliob voters in the last four years.

People are registering to vote this time just to get rid of Bush - it's happening all over. Bush is losing swing voters in large numbers.

Of course the key isn't just getting more votes -- it's getting them in the right states. Here too, signs are encouraging for us - polls are now showing AZ within the margin of error and AK tied.

3. Absolutely
The Republicans were prepared in 2000 for just such an outcome. There were a couple of news stories pre-election as they thought Gore would lose the popular vote but win the electoral vote. No way that they would've rolled over like Gore did. Had Gore persevered, the Republicans would've been on the warpath.
