Poll question: What are your plans if * reinstates a draft.
Edited on Sun Apr-25-04 09:23 PM by saywhat
We gotta think about this people. If he's re-Selected it's coming. This question is primarily for those of draft age, but it also applies to advice you'd give a son, daughter, brother, sister, etc. It also assumes that there are no deferments for worker bees. Of course, the * and Cheney aristocracy types will be immune. Must protect those blue blood genes and all.

6. Having served during the Vietnam War
I am way past the age cut off.
Not that I would EVER support this war. I would protest and oppose it when the draft notices start getting mailed out. No blood for oil.

7. Fight them
They'll never take me alive. If they force me to fight and die against my will, I'll take half the damned Republican Party with me.

Think I'm kidding? Hey, I want my life to count for something. If my blood is going to spill, I'd like to at least spill it while leaving the world a much better place than what it was when I first arrived.

I'm really tired of these monsters.

8. Interesting Poll Options
It's interesting to see how many Republicans are watching this board.

We know we have at least two on at the moment.

I wonder how many there really are....

9. Even tho' I'm past the age....
I would explain (in small words) that the govt. does not want to place a gun in my hands and provide training because there is no telling who will wind up in the cross-hairs.

but what about the Netherlands...the Dutch really know how to party! Also I did that online Minister ordination http://www.ulc.org a few months ago, does anyone know if that counts for a deferment? I mean technically I'm a minister and against the war

12. Who knows? I doubt anybody but the ultra rich and well connected
will get out of serving under the little dictator. Women will probably be put in non-combat jobs, but I doubt they'll be exempt.

14. Do anything that I have to
to keep them from taking my nephew, who just turned 16.

Get involved in our local Friends Meeting and to what I can to help people avoid being drafted, (My mother did that in the early sixties).

20. My son is eighteen and I am worried
The draft had just ended as I graduated from college but I still had to registered with the draft. My son is 18 and headed to college. He may be 4f (partially blind in one eye) but who knows what the standards will be. My wife and I are very worried about a draft.

21. Are the names of draft board members available?
Are the names published somewhere? Or is it kept secret? I lived through the Vietnam draft, and this question never crossed my mind until now. It would be like knowing the name of your judge during a trial. The info might be meaningless unless a good attorney is familiar with the judge, or the draft board members.
