Do any of you really think
Edited on Sat Mar-15-08 02:21 AM by sorrybushisfromtexas
that God of approves America for: slavery, our treatment of American Indians (a only good Indian is a dead one), Jim Crow Laws, KKK (which was the leading political party in some states in the 1920's, interment of the Japanese, 2nd class citizenship for Blacks until the last few decades, racial hatred, Homophobic preachers, the Iraq War, corporate greed, America's rape of our environment, global warming, our consumption of natural resources and food while millions die and we turn the TV channel with our remote because we are too tired of looking at it.

I think he has many things he could of damned us for.
Do you really think that we are a God fearing nation with the blood on our hands?.

What he said was said very poorly, I have problems with the way he said it, but not what he said.
This being said, I love my country, we are a giving nation like no other. We do have much to be ashamed for.

Support your candidate, vote for him or her, give to him or her monetarily, work your ass off for him or her during the primary campaigns. Don't do what I have been seeing tonight on this site. It is silly.

Vote Democratic in The GE no matter who wins.

Work to change our country into one that God would be proud of.
Peace

2. Well said, and maybe the "he's a Muslim" stories will stop, too!
It's so easy to get caught up in the small issues and miss the most important fact. Either of "our" candidates would be better than McCain, either would be a vast improvement over Bush.

3. If the Church in America had the backbone of Wright it would be a completely
different country. I am sure that he would love to have these particular sermons back so that he could have better control over his words.

4. If there was a god he/she should be ashamed of the human condition
but since imaginary sky people are just a figment of everyones imagination, it is upon us to change our behavior. Trying to find approval from make believe sky-gods is, has been, and always will be, a futile exercise with zero results.

8. I will not vote for someone who isn't a Democrat
no matter what letter they put after their name. sorry.

And while all those things from history are things American could be damned for (if you believe such things), however no one running for political office can win by saying such things. Fortunately, no one running HAS said such things, nor do I believe they stand for such things.

9. There are probably very few nations on earth that God does approve of
Most governments have probably violently oppressed their populace at one point or another. Two wrongs certainly don't make a right, but I really think that if there is a God out there watching what we're doing, he/she is probably rolling his eyes.

11. I am a believer...imo real christians have a democratic midset
about loving and defending the weak and poor...

but about what God thinks about America. He is angry ashamed and grieving over the horrible things that mankind has done. Amazingly, He loves us still and that is why He came in the form of man to pay the spiritual price for all the terrible things we have done....so we can be reconciled to God if we so choose.

Too bad we have to still pay the earthly price for what we as humans have done.

16. the 3rd party split should come from the right
Because of the Christians who you mentioned. After the Reagan Revolution they were lumped into the group with fiscal conservatives and war hawks. I would love to see someone like Huckabee run as an independent. I don't know all of the ins and outs of his positions, but he seems like the kind of guy to make that happen.

15. Which is more obscene? Obama's pastor and his taped oration
or the Catholic Church sitting on billions of dollars of art work while millions are starving to death on this planet? Words are only words. Actions are what count.
