Will Kerry challenge Negraponte?
Bush has once again exhibited amazing hubris by appointing John negraponte as ambadassor to Iraq.

Of all the people he could appoint, Negraponte -- who looked the other way as ambadassor to Honduras during Iran Contra.

Will Kerry chellenge this?

3. bringing it up
would require first giving the American people a quick lesson in what we've done in Central America over the last several decades, stuff that most folks have never heard of or quickly forgot. I wouldn't bet the bank.

6. wow
-3 points for being anal-retentive about spelling and -5 for responding to someone who didn't make the spelling error in the first place.

15. hardly anything to worry about, Armstead.
Sangh* has seen any number of spelling errors on DU, and yet you're the only one he's called on it. :hi:

8. Second that, for sure
I agree, most people have no understanding of what that implies. I know I don't have much, having not put much time into learning that history, and having not been around for it.

10. I agree but Kerry was one of the FEW to criticize his appointment
originally to the Bush admin.

I would hope we would all at least wait to see what he does rather than predict based on innuendo..(and I only posted this to you to respond to your original post not to suggest that you wouldn't)

I know. Still, I'm not sure how *anyone* could exhume *that* amount of shit in the middle of a presidential campaign. The amount of backstory necessary to make a point about why Negroponte is so wrong may not be overwhelming, but goes well beyond the soundbites in which everyone gets to trade at this stage.

5. Maybe we'll all get lucky. . .
and something bad will happen to Negroponte and/or Bremer in Iraq.

Our fellow Americans may not have long memories, but rest assured, the Iraqis do.

13. Of all the people he could appoint
Negroponte is the LEAST controversial.

You want controversy? Have him nominate Wolfowitz.
