I still think Bill Richardson would be the best choice for VP
I know he has said he will not accept the nomination, but politicians are always saying that. If the party really wants him and puts alot of pressure on him I believe he would run.

He represents a state which was razor thin in '00 and a region which is getting more democratic just as the south seems to be getting more republican. His presence on the ticket would be helpful in neighboring Arizona as well as Nevada and Colorado.

People are saying we need someone with lots of experience and Richardson certainly has it. Governor, congressman, diplomatic trouble-shooter, United Nations Ambassador (the UN is important factor in what happesn in Iraq) and Energy Secretary.

Finally, no doubt about it--being a latino would be a landmark first and one which would excite this growing and valuable constituency--one which Bush is trying hard to snag votes from. Put Richardson on the ticket and I predict that Bush would have to spend extra time in some states he might not be expected to--even Texas.

I think having Richardson on the ticket would scare Rove more than any other Democrat we could choose.

11. An antiwar pic. I think Kerry needs to cover the bases here..
I am not fond of Kerry's position on Iraq.

2. I'm inclined to agree
I think Richardson is the ONLY potential VP pick whose selection would guarantee victory in a battleground state (New Mexico). He could also boost support and turnout among Hispanics, which could also help in neighboring Arizona.

is just a bonus. A gift! If you think we gave Gore a record Democratic turnout in '00, I think we could smash those numbers with Richardson on the ticket.

4. Oh, what short memories we have!
Cokie Roberts ratted him out last week, said he leaked like a sieve. The implication to me is, is that he is not trustworthy.

5. Oh really? How do you know that he wasn't "leaking" information...
that was against the repukes? You don't know. I wouldn't take Cokie's word for anything. She's just the type to put that out there just to get people to ASSUME that the "leaks" were against dems.

6. I don't like the way he looks, though.
He gets a little mouth mayonaise when he talks, and that could be a negative.

And he's a little soft in the middle.

8. Aw geez. That's important. Say nothing about how he was a ..
congressman, ambassador, energy secretary and govenor. That doesn't matter at all. His soft middle is a deal breaker! :eyes:

9. I agree he could use some weight off
but then so could the majority of the American people. But point well taken he should try and shed 25 pounds.

15. Not just that he is fat
He needs to wipe the spittle from the corner of his mouth when he talks. He is kind of sloppy and unprofessional in appearance.

10. How would he be as a campaigner?
Is he a dynamic speaker? Charismatic in front of a crowd? I don't know him well.

seems pretty good on talk shows and comes across as knowledgeable.

17. well, I would be very happy with Dean on the ticket
and going toe to toe with Cheney in a debate. But realistically, I don't think Kerry is going to go in that direction.

19. I didn't know much about Richardson until
he spoke at a local university. He is impressive - smart, experienced, very Democratic, kind of cute and verrrry personable. Richardson would be great on the stump. My Repuke husband liked what he had to say. Go figure. Screw the need for a VP from the South (of which I'm a part of).

23. Question about Latino voters?
Wasn't Bustamante supposed to get the Latino vote in the CA gubernatorial race?

Didn't he get very little of it?

Will Richardson really be different?

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just asking.
