Obama statement regarding Wright, from January.
...

"As I've told Reverend Wright, personal attacks such as this have no place in this campaign or our politics, whether they're offered from a platform at a rally or the pulpit of a church," he said. "I don't think of the pastor of my church in political terms.

"Like a member of my own family, there are things he says at times with which I deeply disagree," he said. "But as he prepares to retire, that doesn't detract from my affection for Reverend Wright or appreciation for the good works he has done."

1. Facts will not stop Hillary's surrogates from making something out of nothing.

4. I would think that the "guilt by association" card would be the last thing 'the Clintion's' should
be introducing into this campaign.

They do so only at their own 'peril', indeed!

2. Amazing. That will inoculate him in the general!
The fact is he sat there and said nothing when Wright made repeated racist statements. He could have left the church but didn't. Moreover, Wright was his mentor and the man who supposedly brought him to Christianity. You can't erase the past with that weak statement.

10. Oh.That is why Wright thinks "whites" (as if only whites were killed) "deserved" 9/11?

I am sure Wright is very interested in improving race relations, like his pal Farrakhan. :eyes:

12. They use any smear in the book to try to shut down anyone who speaks the truth about St. Obama
I alerted that vicious smear. The fact is there is no excuse for racism such as that from Wright, who thinks whites deserved 9/11.

3. Great response...
...sure, some will try to make something of it, but anybody can relate to the situation as Obama presented it.

And it actually feels like a sincere, honest answer.

5. Yeah
The same sincere honest answer he gave about McClurkin's personal attacks. He's always trying to stand right next to some bigot and distance himself at the same time. If nothing else, he's set the record for a Democratic candidate in the sheer number of Evangelists and preachers he's had to explain to offened voters.
I'm a bit sick of people who wrap up their own small minded prejudices in a set of dogma and worship them as divine. These are people like Dobson and Roberstson, and they will do to our Party what those two did to the GOP.

6. Who among us doesn't have those people in their lives?
The people we feel are valuable although we have real issues with some of their views...

The difference for me between Obama and Clinton is that Clinton's behavior exhibits a lot of things that concern me while some of Obama's friends behavior does the same.

7. I'll tell you what if I went to a Church and the pastor
would use the same language as him and substitute (Jews) for (white people) I would call him a racist. I have heard the same poison from David Duke and others.
