Can't Gore, Edwards, Richardson and the other party leaders to something to stop this?
Our chances in November are less and less because the Obama-Clinton battle has gotten out of control. WE WON'T SURVIVE, POLITICALLY SPEAKING, SIX MORE WEEKS OF THIS CRAP. McCain doesn't have to do shit at this point- just let the Clinton and Obama camps talk mad shit about each other and that's it; he has the oppo research he needs to make short work of Hillary or Barack... UNLESS WE UNITE NOW.

The party elders need to force the campaigns to sit down and see if they can reach some deal- Unity Ticket, toning down the attacks, choose the person with more delegates by the end of a certain deadline that is not too far away from now, something. We are killing each other. Don't we wanna win?

Gore, Edwards, Richardson, Carter and the others need to assume some leadership now- they need to help bring a solution to this situation now, or well have McCain/Romney or whoever that crazy old far chooses as VP in the WH.

2. I think something is happening....
"Once one of us has the nomination there will be a great effort to unify the Democratic party and we will do so, because, remember I have a lot of supporters who have voted for me in very large numbers and I would expect them to support Senator Obama if he were the nominee," she said.

I found this interesting.

7. I hope that is something
It would seem to be a huge about-face, and I doubt unifying the Party will be easy at all, but I hope healing starts much closer to now than August.

4. I was thinking about posting this earlier and was thinking the same thoughts. It's time for the
lear ship of this party to grow some balls, get off their dead asses and get this over with before it's too late. It might already be too late. We are stabbing ourselves to death and are bleeding profusely.

8. This afternoon Obama did not rule out a unity ticket, he said it was premature
at this point.

I'm willing to bet their working like hell behind the scenes to seal a combined ticket.

The top slot is what their haggling over.

I would support a unity ticket, but I've said this since Iowa.

14. I think they are probably trying for a Unity ticket.
Obama has earned the top spot, but he may choose to take the VP for reasons I have posted about in other threads before. I hope they do it soon as well. This is too long a span between primaries for this type of campaigning.

16. Whatever. They don't have the right to "Wrangle over it"
The American people choose who will be the Presidential nominee. It does not get "wrangled over" between the top two contenders in private.

Superdelegates are undemocratic as hell, for those bitching about caucuses. The superdelegates are WAY less democratic than caucuses.

15. With all due respect,
you've offered nothing in the way of a workable idea. Have party elders step in and terminate the process rather than following the prescribed system for selecting a candidate? Ridiculous! End the process prematurely before all the states have had their say? Chaos! Your proposed "solutions" are far worse than the supposed "problem."

The upside of this difficult primary for the Democrats is that their candidates are in the forefront of public attention while McCain struggles to be noticed. And if the process ends with either Obama or Clinton surging to a convincing victory, the public identifies with a winner overcoming difficult obstacles. Instead of whining, the Democrats on both sides need to show their mettle by toughing it out and ensuring that the process is as fair and complete as possible.

The trials of the primary season are nothing compared to what presidents sometimes have to deal with while in office. If Clinton and/or Obama can't handle the strain of a tough primary, that candidate doesn't deserve to be elected.

17. If we are going to talk about people assuming leadership
we should also mention the one who thinks she is qualified to lead the country.

If she wants any shred of a political career after this debacle, she needs to show leadership NOW.

...cuz it made me laugh: that would be "crazy old farT" :P

I think they will, in the end, step in if necessary. They HAVE to. It's their party too, and any legislation that would help Gore reverse global warming, or end poverty as Edwards wishes, or make elections fair as one would imagine Carter would want, go out the window if we blow this election and lose the Senate again because we shot ourselves in the foot. They have a personal stake in this, as every Democrat does. Or at least, I hope they feel that way.

19. Honestly, your premise is flawed
What happens in April tends to have very little effect on what happens in November unless something REALLY BIG happens in April. Campaigns are waged in September and October. Most of what happens before then is fundraising and rallying your base.
