WASHINGTON -- Samantha Power a former adviser to Barack Obama who resigned Friday after calling rival Hillary Clinton ''a monster'' said Obama may not be able to withdraw all U.S. combat troops from Iraq within a year as he has promised on the campaign trail.

Pulitzer Prize-winner author and unpaid adviser, Samantha Power made the comments in two interviews with foreign media while promoting her latest book. In a tight Democratic presidential campaign where attacks are becoming increasingly bitter, Power's comments ignited a flurry of accusations between the two candidates.

Clinton said it's hard to know what Obama's real positions are, while Obama insisted he will end the war in 2009 if elected and blamed Clinton for helping start it.

Her comments about Iraq came in a BBC interview. She said Obama's position is that withdrawing all U.S. troops within 16 months is a ''best-case scenario'' that he will revisit if he becomes president.

Another example of Obama telling every different group anything they want to hear, even if they are the complete opposite of what the next group wants, and he will tell them what they want to hear also! Nobody can rely on the word of Barack Obama.

5. What she was discussing was leaving correctly

with the right aid agencies in place for refugees, support for neighboring countries with refugees, helping families relocate back to communites, international co-operation, etc. which makes a hard deadline difficult. This is not to be misinterpreted as permanence and further intentional combat, but to work on an integral solution with input with neighbors. She is someone big on the UN and big on international solutions and Iraqi input.

28. Obama has actually been consistent and sensible.

He plans on starting a withdrawal as soon as he is often. Any sensible President would modify this plan given changes on the ground (and he has publicly said this before Powers). Any sensible President would be willing to modify this plan given better access to military advisors.

It just so happens Powers felt it unlikely that the 16 month, ideal withdrawal plan, would actually work. Nothing surprising there, actually, as few plans survive contact with the enemy. That doesn't mean it isn't Obama's plan, or that Obama isn't serious about withdrawal.

The OP is spreading FUD.
