For what it's worth, I usually get a vibe from men politicians about whether they're capable of corruption. I long ago felt that about Spitzer, but because he's not too prominent looking from a Houston POV, I didn't put much thought into him.

Most male politicians have a bit of the dog in them. What propels men to see public acclaim is not, psychologically speaking, all that removed from what drives us to gain a lady's private attentions. Spitzer was a good public official--had he only been French.

I, too, am mystified by Spitzer's wife. It was clear she wasn't happy to be there, but on the other hand, who knows what goes on in their marriage? I also noticed his apology to "his family" and not his "wife".

I don't give a pass to him at all. Indeed, I think it verifies that Dems can hardly claim higher moral ground. They can be just as morally-challenged and corrupt as the Repugs.
