N.R.A. Opens an All-Out Drive for Bush and Its Views
By JAMES DAO

Published: April 16, 2004

PITTSBURGH, April 15 — When the National Rifle Association opens its annual meeting here on Friday, it will do more than celebrate hunting, weaponry and the Second Amendment. It will also kick off a vigorous campaign to whip up support among its nearly four million members for President Bush's re-election.

1. Perfect illustration!

The NRA has some big issues with Bush but they will still support him big time.

Democrats want every issue to be what they believe in or they get nervous.

2. George W. Bush is no friend to the gun owner
I disagree with Kerry's views on guns too, so let's just get that out of the way...

Bush favors renewing the so-called "assault weapons" ban, and he has endorsed legislation in the past to up the age limit to buy guns to 21. Nor do I trust this Administration to protect gun rights for anyone other than white male conservatives. If given the political opportunity, I have no doubt that this crowd in DC would confiscate guns from anyone with a non-European last name, and I'm sure they would find a way to confiscate guns from black people too.

3. From the article:
"One of the first things convention attendees will receive in Pittsburgh is the latest issue of the association's monthly magazine, which features a cover photograph of Mr. Kerry posing triumphantly with Senators Edward M. Kennedy, Charles E. Schumer and Diane Feinstein after they helped defeat legislation intended to protect the gun industry from lawsuits. The association had made the bill one of its top priorities this year."

8. So you think Congress is collectively racist?
And that they'd gladly ban people of color from owning guns, but not white people? That's quite a conspiracy theory you're cooking up there...

5. I dunno. My gun views are in a flux
Gun owners aren't fans with Bush. It just seems we could tap them somehow. But on the other hand, having guns be your #1 issue with so much at stake?

6. If gun owners are inclined to vote for their gun interest only,
they will deserve what they get. When the Bill of Rights is rescinded along with the Constitution by the Bush totalitarianists, I'm sure that they will understand and accept that, too.

9. Republicans say Move On has to shut up - what about the NRA?
Edited on Fri Apr-16-04 05:04 PM by Democat
Fucking Republican hypocrites have been saying that citizen groups have no right to support any presidential candidate. Will they tell the NRA to shup up as well?
