I was a witness for one in Iowa and it's an interesting way to vote.

Thanks for participating in the election process!

6. What county?
Dean got 0 votes in my precinct, and Miles got 0 also. I admire Miles for taking a stand, although I voted for Salazar.

About as Denver County as you can get--I live three blocks from the state capitol. :)

There was one Kerry guy there, but he fell below the 15% threshold. We wound up being split almost evenly between Dean and Kucinich.

5. Me too! Douglas CO (repubville)
There were only 5 people in my precinct total that showed up (1 was me, 1 was my Mom.) I voted for Kucinich at first, but had to switch to Kerry because we were to have 2 delegates to the convention for Kerry, and only 1 person in the group could go. So I switched over, and now I'll be supporting Kerry in May. (I am obviously supporting Kerry in Nov., too. But tonight I thought I'd vote my conscience!)

10. I went to mine...
It was the most chaotic public meeting I've ever been to in my entire life. A lot of people didn't know what precinct they were from and no provisions had been made to help figure it out (there were eight precincts all meeting in one place). People were calling out the precinct numbers and within minutes five groups had disappeared to caucus in separate classrooms. Three large groups were milling around in the auditorium, where the general meeting had been, with another large group standing around with their thumbs up their ass trying to figure out what they were supposed to do. It was a fucking joke. A complete lack of organization.

I always wondered why we have such a hard time winning elections in Colorado, now I know why.

22. Yours sounds kind of like mine
only all five or six of our caucuses were held in the same room. It was pretty confusing too, especially for someone whose never been to a caucus. They didn't seem to have their act all that much together, but I don't really know since I have no basis for comparison.

The fact that you voted for both DK and MM tells me a lot about you, and I sooo much appreciate all the effort you're putting int this.

If we had more like you, we could resusitate this sagging party!

Keep us up-to-date on your work.... this has me really intrigued.. and cheering!

17. I got back a couple of hours ago.
Edited on Wed Apr-14-04 12:36 AM by crunchyfrog
The whole thing was pretty confusing. I've never been to a caucus before so I didn't really understand what was going on. There were five or six different precincts all meeting in one room in a local middle school. Our group was the smallest with only five people.

I was the only one in our group who voted for Mike Miles so that means that I get to be a delegate for him at the Boulder County Assembly.

Three out of the five in my group went for Kucinich, so I get to be a Precinct Commiteeperson and stand for him at the Colorado party convention, or something like that. I'm not sure exactly what I ended up signing on to do. :scared:

I also ended up writing a platform resolution for our group about bringing the troops home from Iraq. We just started talking about it and suddenly I ended up with a piece of paper in front of me.

It was pretty confusing and chaotic, but kind of interesting. They did tell us that we were not voting for delegates for the presidential race since that was already decided. We all kind of went :wtf:, since 3 out of 5 of us wanted to vote for Kucinich. I guess delegates get decided on the convention level and not on the caucus level, at least that's what we were told.(?)

It sounds like different groups were told different things.

18. Cool, crunchy!
Sounds like you'll be off the streets and out of trouble for a while. :)

3 out of 5 for DK? GREAT!

However, I'm *really* wondering what the heck is going on that you were told you weren't choosing presidential delegates?????

Who were these people who were telling you that? I'm really thinking this sounds like it needs to be contested, as that just doesn't sound correct? Were these Kerry people who told you that, by any chance? The word is out that the Kerry people are trying to shut out Dennis by any means necessary. I hope you'll be able to follow up on this. I think I do a bit of whispering around... :)
Were your presidential choices written down?

I'm really glad you'll be a delegate for Mike Miles! Did you see what I replied to you about him on the Politics forum?

Congrats to you, crunchy! Ya done good!

19. We were told that by the people
Edited on Wed Apr-14-04 01:12 AM by crunchyfrog
who were sort of "supervising" the caucus. Our Presidential choices were written down and we chose a couple of people, both for Kucinich, (I'm one of them) to go to the (I think) Colorado convention, but I don't think specifically as DK delegates. Everything was just kind of confusing. They did not calculate and pick delegates for Presidential like they did for Senate.

I don't know what I should do. I'm going to a Mike Miles meetup tomorrow, I might ask about it there. I maybe could also call the Boulder county Democratic party people and ask them about it.

I'm open to any suggestions that you or anyone else may have.

20. I'd suggest talking to your Kucinich campaign people in Boulder
I'll sure be willing to ask here.

Something doesn't ring true. After all the kind work you've done, I'd really hate to see you get screwed out of a delegate! Actually, it sounds like they're trying to take away THREE delegates.

Nope, methinks this is a game.

Email me and let me know how it goes... I'll help all I can from here.

Kanary, with a pat on the back for crunchy!

23. I'm a DK del from Larimer County...
This was my first caucus, Larimer County, Fort Collins. Our precinct had 14 attendees and we were allowed 5 delegates, which ended up being allotted 2 for Dean, 2 for Kucinich, 1 for Kerry. Wonderful to be among progressives who were all determinedly ABB but wanted to send a strong message to the party as to their direction. So, I'll be in Loveland May 1st for the next step, delegating for DK and Ken Salazar.

26. Unofficial tally from Kucinich campaign
The Kucinich campaign is doing our own tally of the caucus results in Denver County. So far, we have 6 of the 9 districts counted (with #6, 7, & 8 still to go). We hope to have the rest to tell you sometime tonight. So far, these are the results:

So far:
Delegates..............687
Kerry................480
Kucinich............132.............19.2%
Uncommitted.......51
Dean..................23
Sharpton...............1

Delegates..............740
Salazar .............519
Miles..................147 19.9%
Uncommitted .......74

The Denver Democratic Party will release their unofficial tally tomorrow (Friday) and the official tally probably next Tuesday.
