24. That's the Hillary Herd's wet dream....but how about a Democratic ticket instead?
Edited on Sun Mar-09-08 12:31 AM by earthlover
The Hillary Herd has veered off the Democratic Party. Why did they do that? Oh well...they won't be missed.

3. Bill Bradley deserves very serious consideration, IMO.
I could be very happy with Russ Feingold, too, and Barbara Boxer.

Brian Schweitzer -- if not this time, then possibly next time -- but he has enormous appeal and an excellent dog.

Kathleen Sebelius did not appear to excite folks on DU in her recent response to Bush's SOTU address, but I stand by her 100% and feel she would bring a great amount to the table.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is a longshot obviously, but not because there are not a great number of things to admire about him.

Bill Moyers is getting up there in birthdays but if he cannot be on our ticket, I would surely like to see him advising our next president, no matter who it is.

Another DUer suggested Marci Kaptor on the boards recently. I like that idea.

Janet Napolitano and Alexis Herman deserve a very respectful consideration also.

13. Not a good comparison
We've already seen what Cheney's "experience" has brought this country. You can't blame all the idiotic mistakes in Iraq on just his corruption and evilness.

8. There isn't going to be a dream ticket
Obama already said no - and personally my dream ticket includes Obama for President and someone other than Hillary

Having said that I can see any number of good possibilities out there, I'd love to see Edwards or Feingold get it but, like always, it will boil down to strategy and who Obama thinks he could work best with.

hilary so how does that play into him running as Obama's VP when Obama and hilary are such two different entities?

27. I would vote for governor Strickland tomorrow if I had a chance
I feel he threw in with Hillary real early and didn't want to look like a flip flopper. People that opposed each other in the primary have run on the same ticket before.

17. My list of VP choices:
I see foreign policy and national security depth as key for a running mate, regardless of the nominee; in light of that, my list of VP contenders is:

Jim Webb - unimpeachable military credentials; strong national security credentials thanks to his time in the Reagan administration; prescience in his principled opposition to the Iraq war from the outset (opposition that will carry more weight with some people, as Webb is fairly hawkish; it can't be spun as 'weakness'). Add all that to his standing as a relative Washington outsider, and he's a VERY strong running mate for Obama; less so for Clinton, but he adds dimension to either ticket.

Joe Biden - his expertise in foreign relations/national security issues can't be discounted (indeed, Biden might make a more natural choice as Secretary of State).

Bill Richardson - Richardson is the oly governor I can think of offhand who brings any kind of foreign relations credibility to the ticket; as rebuilding America's strained relationships with Europe and Asia is a high priority on the agenda of any Democratic administration, I see that as a greater plus than simply the executive experience of governorship.

Gary Hart - his age (the same as McCain) may be against him, but Hart has been a prescient voice on the national security challenges facing the US in the past decade; the Hart-Rudman commission, which he chaired, gave warnings of the eventuality of extremist terrorism directed against the United States (which, of course, was ignored by the Bush administration).

26. Lots of possibilities for President Obama.....
Edited on Sun Mar-09-08 12:47 AM by earthlover
I thought about hillary as part of the dream. First time I did this, she went negative and changed my view. Then i went back to backing hillary again, then she went insanely negative again and endorsed mccain. I am just too easy going. You know, Hillary does not belong on the ticket. She does not belong in the administration. She does not belong in the Democratic Party after dissing a Democratic Presidential candidate vs the Republican nominee. So, no, Hillary is not a good VP choice.

I think Obama needs someone with foreign policy experience. Like it or not, Hillary was able to borrow from the Repuke talking points in her Ohio campaign of fear. The Repukes will do the same thing as McHillary did. So, bottom line, he needs someone strong on defense to help him on this issue.

For this reason, I think Wes Clark would be the best vp. He has made some mistakes recently in support of hillary. But he is a good man. His nomination would be reaching out to the hillary camp....and would be a much better dream ticket than obama/hillary.

The worst possible ticket? Hillary and anyone else....the nightmare ticket.
