Mainly because, I just can't wait to see the media turn on him, if his poll numbers keep dropping, then the media will smell the blood in the water and go after him (as in pre-9/11 days)

that many of the cable outlets and radio networks have too much riding on Bush having 4 more years. I doubt these folks will turn on Bush.

If his numbers plummet and he becomes a liability to their profits. That's one of the best Achilles Heels of the GOP and its marriage to Corporate America. They will bugger each other to death over a buck, and if it costs them viewers (there by forcing them to drop advertising rates) they will turn on bushco to get the ratings up so they can continue to ask for silly amounts of money for a 30 second prime time commercial slot.

Business in America is to first make as much money as you can, if that means turning on your "masters" or "allies" then turn on them. If you look around, you'll see it all the time. Its also why so many companies have remained "profitable" (to the share holders) by screwing around with layoffs, payroll, benefits, and insurance. In huge corporations, saving 1/2% on insurance rates by switching to a crappy policy can translate into millions "saved" for the board of directors and share holders.

the media will turn when it becomes apparent that bush can't get them good ratings when they parrot whatever drivel comes out of his arid head.

11. Yeah, a Ross Perot like candidate in the GOP would be....

like a wet dream right now. But I'm doubtful that will happen. The neocon lockstep is way too tight. Its like the Left-Wing Lock in Hockey. When it works its an unstoppable defense.

The only "x-factor" I see in the GOP is the huge body of disaffected moderates wondering what to do.

In some ways we have it lucky, we know where we are in the political world, and know where we want to go.

The moderate republicans have a really vexing questions on their hands. Bushco has tossed the moderate platform out of the window, and everything he does is an affront to the moderate ideal, especially in the all important "Foreign Relations" that the "great communicator" (Regan they call him) built up.

But, on the other hand, if they feel betrayed by the party's nutters, who do they turn to? Its a hard pill to swallow for the moderate republicans to vote for a democratic candidate just to weaken the neocon power base so they can take back their party.

I really pity the moderate republicans, they are in a worse position than us "loony" liberals.

Wednesday April 07, 2004--If the Congressional elections were held today, forty-four percent (44%) of Likely Voters say they would vote for a Democrat and 34% for a Republican. 

That 10-point edge matches the Democrat's biggest lead of the year. While 79% of Democrats say they will vote for a Democrat in Congress and 75% of Republicans say they will vote for their party, the big difference comes from unaffiliated voters. Among these voters, Democrats are preferred for Congress by a 21-point margin.

This 10-point lead for the Democrats comes after several days of bad news from Iraq. Following that news, the President's Job Approval Ratings have fallen to their lowest level of the year. John Kerry has also gained his biggest lead of the year (6-points) in our daily tracking poll.

This is the first poll by a major business journal in which Kerry leads Bush. Until recently, every Wall Street Journal , Business Week and other poll that had a business related orientation did not have Bush either a little ahead or in a tie with Bush.
