It's sickening
The things said on this board about Senator Hillary Clinton.

It's been getting worse and worse every day. It's absolutely sickening.

You people sound worse than the Freepers. If you have any doubt, go read one of their Clinton threads - they're not as hateful as this place.

I'm fed up. This board has completely jumped the shark. This is worse than an NFL board where Patriots and Jets fans go at it. It has about the same level as intellectual discourse as well.

Too bad the stakes are so high or it could be funny, this mass insanity.

I think I'll hang out in the lounge and at the groups. It's about the only thing a sane person can do these days and still come to what used to be the best political board on the net.

For all you people who think Clinton's a monster - try to remember that the two candidates are within 1/2 of one percentage point in the popular vote.

You may be living in this echo chamber where Clinton eats babies and boils kittens, but the rest of the country isn't.

1. I think you need to step back and try
to objectively evaluate the tenor of her campaign over the past week. Perhaps some here are expressing themselves in an over the top manner and might have more crediblity if they didn't respond with name calling.

I am deeply offended by the things that Hillary has had to say over the past couple of days. She is damaging the democratic party.

39. You left out damaging the future of our children too and I would...
that would infuriate people. Some people think the country is headed in a terrible direction and it needs to be fixed this election cycle not the next. I agree with you on her campaign tactics are like gasoline being thrown on a match, first we are upset with her and then she dumps gasoline on the match so everyone looks at the fire instead of her.

That's what you are. Hillary Clinton has surrounded herself with BAD people.

She either has extremely bad judgement, or she's a bad person herself.

3. Oh shut up...
No one on this board is going any lower than the standard Hillary Clinton has set for this campaign, and that's a really low standard.

If you want to improve the discourse in politics, start with your candidate and her trashy team of advisors and hold them to a modicum of decency.

34. No, I don't.
She did not endorse him.

The RNC already knows that's how they'd run against Obama -- on experience. I think they'd rather have other people talking about it in their ads, and if they wanted to show HRC saying it, that'd only make her look bad, not Obama. People who want to vote for Obama already know he doesn't have as much Washington experience as McCain (and neither does Clinton, for that matter).

I wrote more here (although it quickly devolved!):

7. Honestly, I don't think Hillary boils kittens, as far as I know.

And this is a Democratic reaction, not merely an Obama supporter reaction.

Hillary has gone beyond the pale. She has (3 times now) endorsed McCain over Obama...

That's not "hard politics"... that's not being a Democrat.

She could have said "I think I have more experience than Obama" or "I think I'm more qualified to be Commander in Chief than Obama"

What she said was "I think I'm qualified, and I *KNOW* John McCain is qualified, but Obama isn't qualified" (not a quote but the quotes are worse).

And that's simply not done.

9. It's called Zealotry
This is what happens when people become zealots, they attack anyone who disagrees with their agenda or beliefs.

Zealot:

1. one who is zealous, one who is full of zeal for his own specific beliefs or objectives, usually in the negative sense of being too passionate; a fanatic.

Notice the word 'fanatic', that's what we have two groups of fanatics tearing each other apart while the real enemy sits back and watches as his opposition becomes moot!

How can it be fixed, from what I've seen it can't, because no one really wants to fix it. Every time someone tries they get crucified and told how anything they have to say is inane.

Both sides have done rotten, lousy things to the other, and I think that they actually hate each other.

Nasty things have been said about both candidates, and neither one is perfect or pure, but the 'zealots' refuse to see the reality and continue to believe the myth.

"This is the west, sir. When the legend becomes fact, print the legend."

11. My days as a Democrat are numbered........
and the things that have been said about DUers by other DUers is simply another reason why.

We are allowed to discuss candidates to our hearts contents here, and so we shall.

What we are not allowed is to diss other DUer members for simply speaking their minds about political public figures, and this is according to DU rules.

Unfortunately, you have chosen to join the rank of DUers who believes that they have some kind of given right to judge the behavior of other DUers simply for doing what this political forum serves for during primaries.

So yes, I believe that you are in the wrong place, and believe that your departure will enable for others DUers not to have to defend their freedom to speak about political candidates on a political board.

Thank you for going elsewhere.

I do not show disrespect to those who don't call me names. However, when and if they do, I may respond in kind, as that would be expected.

So please find what you are speaking of and demonstrate that you are correct in your assesment of me.....personally, which appears to be what you have chosen to do.

Again, you are blurring the line between what is said about a candidate, and what is said about that candidate's supporters.

Please know that my candidate is preaching "Hope", not yours.

Half the people responding are on ignore.

I can't understand the absolute hatred - and it is worse than the freepers. It's not sane (edited to add: they are insane as well.)

And I've never even been a strong Clinton supporter. I prefer her to Obama, but prefer Edwards to both of them. I'm a socialist at heart and I find her positions no different from Obama's.

And you're right. If (though probably more like when) he gets the nomination, this place is going to be much worse.

It's going to be funny watching the heads explode as the R's rip out his jugular.

The main reason I support Clinton over Obama is that I don't believe he can win the general but I do believe she can.

37. Sure it is. But you shouldn't deny that it happens on both sides.
There are more Obama supporters here than Clinton supporters, so in absolute terms the invective against Clinton is greater. Proportionately, it is at least as bad from both sides. That doesn't make it any less sickening, but it isn't just at Clinton.

(also, people on both sides are way too quick to cry "hate" at criticism of either policy or politics).
