What's Your Opinion of Wyoming?
Even though there are only something like 12 delegates up for grabs...anybody think Obama has a chance? I heard they were holding a caucus...so that's good news.

2. What few Democrats that are in Wyoming...
usually vote like Colorado Dems. And Colorado went 2 to 1 for Obama.

4. I'd heard Obama was favored...also heard this is the first time in
about 40 years Dems there are excited and feel their caucus matters and they expect a large turnout.

15. Has a Democratic Governor, often elects DEM Congressmen but
Has voted DEM in Presidential only once (1964) since 1948 when it did go for Truman

7. I think he does
It's hard to say because there has been no polling but he's done well generally in the midwest - I don't see why wyoming should be much different.

17. Wyoming is not in the Midwest.
But it is quite similar to other Mountain states like Idaho, a state that also held a caucus. Obama won Idaho 80%-17%, nearly shutting Clinton out of any delegates at all (there is a 15% threshold).

19. Wyoming has always been Obamas...
I'm guessing it will be 62 - 38 for Obama.

Mississippi is going for Obama as well. Big.

So, taking into account the last four races (OH, TX, VT, and RI)...

That will be a 4 to 2 state win for Obama (TX, VT, WY, and MS).

And an increase in the net pledged delegate count over the same period.

Here in Hawaii it was predictive. I trust Wyoming people to know what's true from what's baloney.

Guess we'll see.

Wyoming's Democrat governor renounces his party

Chris Adamo Chris Adamo
September 28, 2005

This past weekend a gathering in Gillette, Wyoming highlighted the present, chaotic state of the Democrat Party. As Democrats around the country attempt to portray two faces to their constituencies, one representing moderation, and the other representing fire-breathing liberalism, Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal essentially renounced the basic philosophies of his party.

More stunning yet was that he did so in the presence of Democratic National Committee vice chairman Mike Honda. Honda then faced the daunting task of attempting to portray a bridge of commonality between Freudenthal's pragmatic candor and the image presented nationally by the Democrats.

In front of an audience of roughly seventy-five Wyoming Democrats, Freudenthal blatantly distanced himself from Democrat Chairman Howard Dean, along with such fundamental party principles as gun control.

Honda, while desperately seeking to portray a facade of unity with the Governor, was clearly shaken and tried repeatedly to emphasize the Governor's stance as being compatible with that of the party.

27. Hillary wins when she campaigns there and shows the people how much she cares.

But if she doesn't care enough about the people of Wyoming to campaign there, then I suppose she will lose big. And should she become the nominee and show the people she does not care, then that will hurt any Democrats in Wyoming as they try futiley to explain that, yes, the Democratic Party does care about Wyoming despite the Democratic presidential candidate not campaigning in Wyoming.

Wyoming ranchers run their cattle on federal owned property, gov't is the largest employer and the people of Wyoming have a stronger than usual interest in environmental issues. But the GOP continues to dominate the state through the simple expediency of actually campaigning there.

We won't win if we don't run.

Edited on Fri Mar-07-08 02:04 PM by Gore1FL
it is a caucus state. He has campaigned there. I don't know if she did.

I would expect if it is unimportant for Hillary, it won't be important for people t caucus for her.... Probably a pickup of a couple net Obama delegates.

I recall they had a cute, tiny yellow house that was the Democratic Party headquarters in Cheyenne. Nice state... gorgeous place. I expect them to go like Colorado does. :)
