Texas Caucus Update: 41% Counted; Obama 56% - Clinton 44%

Unofficial - a painstaking process, to say the least.

From the Texas Democratic Party:

"Although delegates generally do not switch presidential preferences, party rules do not formally bind delegates to support the same candidate at every step in the convention process, and the allocation of delegates to the national convention is not finally determined until the June 6-7 State Convention. Therefore, these results may not reflect the final allocation of 67 delegates determined by the TDP convention/caucus process."

At least this year.

3. More and more evidence that caucuses are undemocratic
and not at all reflective of the will of the people. We saw this in Washington state, and we're seeing it now in Texas.

5. Yeah, you're right. We should throw out all the caucus votes, include the FL and MI votes as is,
and keep the superdelegate system as is.

That way this election will be 100% fair.

4. Something strange going on. Why is the count taking so long?
It has to be known what happening in each of the locations and counting cannot take this long. I think the Clinton campaign will challenge the results as soon as available and I wonder if this is influencing the counting.

6. Votes were recorded on forms in triplicate, there were not enough pre-printed forms,
...and many of the votes (at least in our convention) were recorded on hand-drawn, photocopied forms.

This is literally a hand-count.

10. Handcount of how many people? Isn't this like hundreds of people at each location?
Didn't the forms get counted at each site? Why did other states' caucuses run a lot better?

13. Turnout surprised everyone.
In 2004, our precinct convention was 12 people.

This year, there were at least 100-120.

12. And let me guess: the clinton supporters are ancient women who just cant seem to count slow enough?
Even a hand-count should be yielding slow results.

7. Some precincts phoned in their results, but it was requested not required.
Others are mailing in their results. This is normal.

8. The cities came in last, and then they got shut down.
The Clinton team had a legal dispute before the election began about the caucus votes. I can't find the link anymore, but it's out there somewhere.

Don't worry, she'll have torn our party to shreds by the time it's over.

We haven't got a chance in the GE anymore, and I blame CNN and the New York Times for supplying most of the fuel for this fire.

11. Bullshit.
Total made up, lying bullshit.

For your information...not that it does any good because I have no doubts you will continue to spread lies, but here is the truth if you want to educate yourself

The state party is under no obligation to continue tallying and releasing the precinct results between now and the county conventions. Numbers have been made public up until now under a voluntary reporting system created and paid for by the state party, under intense pressure from the campaigns and the media to tell the public who's ahead in the delegate count as early as possible.

15. I've read the unimpressive article, and it's bullshit.
It's not the only bullshit out there, but it's bullshit.

I've been watching these numbers since the beginning, running polls against one another, checking statistics and watching how and when CNN and the New York Times is tallying the votes. Again and again, if the information is pro-Obama it's shoved under the table. This is far from the first example of total bullshit coming from the media about this election.

17. You really don't have to read the media
Go to the Texas Democrats website and start reading the rules of the caucus.
Or do you think the people that made the rules up in the first place are lying to you?

14. The cities were not 'shut down' whatever that means.
And Clinton did not file any legal action. They were merely contemplating such.

16. Their contemplations included attempts at running the caucuses across the state.
And you can look up the caucus results for yourself if you'd like. The rural districts came in first, and then some of the cities came in. I watched the hard numbers on the state website as they came in. The numbers switched to favoring Obama at 56% at 37% of the caucus vote being counted. Just following that, the numbers started coming in at a snail's pace.

18. the truth be told
most of the irregularities were the obamites stealing the caucus packets, locking out hillary supporters, chasing down caucus chairs....I haven't read ONE that said that the Hillary people did ANYTHING to disrupt the caucuses.
