Why so glum? We are winning

Am I the only one that thinks having the democrats dominate the news cycle with a continued primary battle isn't necessarily a bad thing?

I'm one of those Du'ers that feel both candidates are exceptional, but I have been leaning towards Obama for a couple months now.

But really, if it goes to convention why is that "tearing the party apart?" Why is letting all the states get a chance to have their vote a bad thing?

I don't think there is a need to "focus on the general election" as some argue. Instead, both of our great candidates are taking on McCain, and cleaning up the floor with him. Sure they are also taking each other on, and the press is eating it up. Under the theory that exposure is always good, getting all this free airtime for the Dems to get out their message is a boon.

Not to mention, all the organizing both campaigns are doing. Voter turnout has been insane thanks to this primary season. Even if some people do follow through with their misguided (i.e. retarded) threat of sitting out the election if their candidate doesn't get the nod, they will be drowned out by all the new voters that have been energized by both Hillary and Obama. (Note: Obama seems to have done the most in this field, which is why I support him)

So, relax DU, enjoy the fireworks and sparklers.
Everyone is watching the Democrats.
And there is a reason.

Everyone knows the next President of the United States will be one.

2. Glum because the prospect of having Americans watch Obama and Clinton tear each other apart and then

try to convince them later that one of them is qualified is really rather depressing.

One candidate has engaged a record number of citizens and given them hope to believe in the power to change the country themselves, while the other candidate turned her back on this same message that her husband used to endear the hearts of the citizens over the years. One candidate is trying to snuff out the very embers of hope and change that another candidate has tediously planted and nurtured. The seeds of democracy and hope are springing up around the country and instead of rejoicing and embracing that movement, one candidate is trying to spread fear and stamp out the budding life of the party.

I was hoping that we could turn this fight into the Democrats vs. McCain and bring in record numbers of wins to the house and senate. But with the current scenario, I just see the country getting burned out if we allow the negative to continue through to a bitter end.

Anyway, that's why I'm so glum. I do not enjoy the prospect of nor agree with you on what those fireworks will bring.

I too think this is good for our candidates to get all this 'baggage' out in the open before we go against their slime machine. If you can't escape scrutiny by your own party, forget getting past Slush Phlegmball and that neocon noise machine known as FAUX News.

7. I Think it Goes Both Ways

The Clinton fans on this site are not exactly holier-than-thou--except when it comes to Hillary-and some are also to quick to tell lies about Obama, and even make up threads to complain about Obama's supporters. I am amazed by how touchy some of the Clinton supporters are on this site, seemilngly taking it as a personal offense if others don't laud their nominee. But then I guess the Clinton fans might say the Obama'ers take the same attitude.

What the hell will change with either of those 2 in the White House. Not a thing for me or for about 90% of the people living in the US. Okay, maybe the top 25% will see a change, but us bottom 75%, not one damn thing. We will still be without health care. We will still work longer hours for less money. We will still see public schools in a downward spiral. We will still see prices on necessities go up, while our pay stays the same. We will still see homelessness in every single city in America. We will still see children going to bed hungry. Do you want me to go on?

If you don't make at least $100,000 in this country, you are invisible. And the amount of money that is being spent on this campaign is absolutely obscene. This is a damn auction, with American Idol voting mentality.

And Obama turns my stomach everytime I hear him speak. If he isn't stumbling around, he's got that false preacher cadence going. And, even when you read what he says, he says NOTHING.

I am an Edwards supporter, and will always be.
