Hillary and Wal-Mart money
Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 03:02 PM by DaDooRonRon
(Guess it just depends on who is watching)

Clinton then: "she turned away $5,000 that Wal-Mart had donated through its PAC to her Senate campaign. At the time, in February 2006, Clinton's spokeswoman said the senator rejected the money because of 'serious differences with current company practices'".

Clinton now: "Sen. Hillary Clinton is the favored recipient of campaign money from Wal-Mart executives, where she once served on the board of directors. Officers and directors of the retail giant have given more money to presidential candidates in this race than in the previous two election cycles combined, according to Federal Election Commission filings. More than one-third of the at least $33,700 donated by Wal-Mart officers and directors for the presidential race has gone to Clinton, D-N.Y."

Yes, I can feel the "change" wafting over me now.

1. Was she on the board during the Sam Walton years or after his death?
WalMart wasn't always evil.

.. have you also looked closely at Obama's
donors and associations?

Personally, from reading and observation, I see
that both candidates are reeking in
corporate and lobbyist stench.. the difference
being that Clinton is a bit more people
oriented and I would trust her to more specifically
address the critical concerns of the poor and
working classes, and to be a bit more liberal on
social issues.

Both would be exponentially better than Bush or
any Reep.

3. Yes I have
I have no dog in this fight - I find them both sorely lacking in many ways.

Please remember, though, that the President is NOT the problem.

The Congress is.

There are conservatives on the Supreme Court not because Bush requested them, but because the "opposition" did nothing.

Iraq, wiretapping, torture, shredding the Constitution - ALL done with the consent of the "opposition."

The argument that one President is better than another is folly when the two parties are so eerily similar.

So we're talking about $8K from officers & directors at Walmart.

Interesting note is that when checking FEC records, nearly all contributors to Hillary from Walmart were women.

5. Oh, then it's all fine then
Especially since some of them were women!

I mean, Condi is a woman, right?

So is Harriet Miers.

And Kay Bailey Hutchinson.

That's a damn small gangplank you're walking on.

What's next, the "sisterhood is powerful" meme?

9. Can you read?
From my post #3:

"I have no dog in this fight - I find them both sorely lacking in many ways".

Now, what we should do is attempt to put a stop to this corporate cronyism, but since both candidates seem to eat it for breakfast (although Ms. Clinton gets extra kudos for having it for lunch and dinner as well) it seems as if you think your time is better spent defending the indefensible, as if "well, the other guy does it too" is some sort of valid rationale.

6. She needs it. Her campaign is millions in debt according to the Washington Post.
Here is a snippet:

Her organization, though, is drained of money and energy. Outgunned by Obama in the fundraising department, the Clinton campaign is carrying millions of dollars in debt, although officials would not say how much, and it threw everything it had into Texas and Ohio.
