I'm calling a blowout for Obama in Mississippi--because of Clinton's own words
When Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) suggested that Mississippi is the lowest of the low when it comes to state-by-state comparisons, she may have bruised some feelings there.

In an interview with the Des Moines Register’s David Yepsen today, she said she was surprised that Iowa, like Mississippi, had never elected a woman governor, senator or member of Congress.

"I was shocked when I learned Iowa and Mississippi have never elected a woman governor, senator or member of Congress. There has got to be something at work here," she said.

“How can Iowa be ranked with Mississippi?" she asked, suggesting that Iowa is too good for that. "That's not the quality. That's not the communitarianism, that's not the openness I see in Iowa."

Bill Clinton expected to visit Mississippi

By Natalie Chandler
natalie.chandler@clarionledger.com

Former President Bill Clinton is expected to visit Mississippi this week to
campaign for his wife, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton,
according to a Clinton supporter.

Clinton volunteer Brown Miller of Hattiesburg said workers at Hillary
Clinton’s national campaign headquarters told him about the visit.

Campaign staffers for the candidate said Bill Clinton will be in Hattiesburg
Friday. Details of his visit have not been announced.

18. Let's review, for those who are confused. All that

Clinton said, in relation to the SC primary, when Obamaniacs were wetting themselves in excitement over Obama's win there, was that Jesse Jackson had won SC, too, but not the nomination. For that simple observation he was accused of being racist because, ooh, he said another black man had once won in SC. Never mind that it was true.

Never mind that if he'd mentioned any white man who'd won in SC but not won the nomination, like John Edwards, he'd have been called racist for comparing Obama and a white man!

The Great Obama must never be compared to anyone of any race! So says the Great Obama.

Obama's use of the race card has been really stupid because neither Bill nor Hillary are racists and he knows it.

37. So why didn't he use John Edwards as the example?
Instead of Jesse Jackson? Edwards was a more recent example of a politician who had won SC but lost the nomination. Clinton could have used that comparison and avoided even the appearance of downplaying Obama's victory on racial grounds.

the party- or at least many superdelegates - will not want to wait that long when PA won't resolve anything anyway. It will likely just be a 5 point or so Hillary win that nets her a handful of delegates.

19. Republicans will cross over in huge numbers in MS and WY

to vote for Obama. Obama will get most of the black vote in MS, which is very large. I doubt there are enough blacks in WY to make any difference but the place is full of Republicans, i.e., possible primary crossovers. Hillary Clinton is smart enough to know Obama will probably take those states. Since they are rural states, PA is more important, having a larger urban population. Larger population=more delegates.

The GOP is doing everything it can, with help from the media it owns, to make Obama the nominee, so that McCain can crush him.

Do you seriously think Obama could win Utah, Idaho, SC, or any other red state against
McCain in November? Winning the Democratic primary does not mean you'll win the general election. You have to be able to defeat the Republican.

In November, the Republicans will vote for McCain, and a lot of Democrats will vote third party, stay home, even vote for McCain rather than vote for Obama, because he's a liar and has very little national-level experience.

Nominating Obama would hand McCain the presidency.

59. HRC is an idiot
She has lost the nomination because she ignores and belittles the small and republican leaning states. She refuses to compete for their delegates and that is why it is impossible for her to win the nomination. She still doesn't get it. She needed to compete in every state, making every voter feel like they MATTERED. This is what Obama does and this is why he will not only win the nomination but the presidency. She would bring the same old strategy to the general election, i.e; focusing on the traditional dem states and trying to win a few borderline states like Ohio and Missouri. And she would get her fucking clock cleaned by McCain and the rethuglican vote caging, felony wire tapping machine. She needs to sit down and shut up already.

And I am not even an Obama supporter--or wasn't until after my caucus was several weeks old.

20. MS has a large black population and a lot of Republicans who'll crossover

to vote for Obama in the primary. (Some blacks are Republicans, too.) The Republicans will not vote for the Democrat in November, however.

All these red states where Obama has won primaries will still be red states in November if he's the nominee. They'll go for McCain. Clinton could win some of them. She can defeat McCain.

Obama seems determined to take the party down if he's not the nominee.

16. Hillary---How pathetic. How transparent. How manipulative.
I'm totally laughing here at Hillary Clinton's vile manipulation and deceptive spinning.

Does this woman EVER stop trying to manipulate and contort reality? Jesus!

Let me tell you something about what Hillary Clinton did in Iowa. I live in Iowa and
I had front-row seats to the shenanigans and the bullshit. Besides planting questions
in two Iowa audiences and running an impersonal campaign in which she didn't even allow
questions--she also began insulting Iowa and suggesting that it would be hard for her to
win the Iowa caucuses--because Iowa never elected a woman governor before.

Hillary started these digs about Iowa--a week before the caucus--when her polls began tanking. She began
attacking Iowa and insinuating that we were behind the times and unwilling to accept women in
leadership roles. She also began insulting the caucus process--and spinning caucuses as unfair, etc.

Again, all of this spin started when her polls showed her losing ground.

Many people here were insulted by Hillary's negative remarks about our state. She didn't parse it at all.
She was clearly saying that we were provincial hicks who couldn't handle women in leadership roles.

Now, what is she doing??? She's spinning the same tale about Mississippi---because she knows that she will lose
big there. She has to discount Mississippi, and make that win a non win. So, she'll do to Mississippi what she
did to Iowa--disparage and denigrate.

Another really disgusting element to this--is how she is using David Yepsen, to pull off this spin. David
Yepsen, is the chief political reporter at the Des Moines Register. The Register endorsed Clinton. Yepsen
is the same reporter who helped Hillary spin her absurd lies about Obama busing in Illinois students to
stack the caucuses. This never happened! However, Yepsen was happy to spread Clinton's unsubstantiated
rumors and it appears he's still doing it with Mississippi.

How contemptible, that Hillary has the audacity to pretend as if she liked Iowa--as she denigrates Mississippi.
Her insults about Iowa were very concise. But she needs to make Mississippi look like shit, so she goes
back to David Yepsen and compliments Iowa and talks about "the openness" of our state. She's only doing
this to avoid looking like a whiner who has complained before about a state not electing women. She's
got to diffuse her past attacks on Iowa, so her decimation of Mississippi is more potent.

Hillary had no problem attacking our caucuses--and attacking the people of Iowa for being anti-women in politics.
Now, like a snake, she sidles up to Yepsen---as he helps her craft her new negative spin on a Mississippi loss.

Is everyone getting how utterly revolting Hillary Clinton is?????

21. Obama is very manipulative, constantly talking about his

opposition to the war, his support for civil rights, and other lies.

I won't vote for a man who has led people to believe that he voted against the IWR when he was not elected to the Senate until two years after the vote. That's revolting.

I won't vote for a man who he said in his 2004 Senate campaign that he basically agreed with Bush's policies on the war. That's revolting.

Since he's been in the Senate, he has voted for every bill to fund the war and voted to extend the PATRIOT Act. That's revolting.

One anti-war speech in 2002 does not impress me when I know what he's done since then.

The bottom line is that Obama can't beat McCain. So our choice is Clinton or McCain.

Yes, it would be wonderful if we had a better candidate than Clinton or Obama but we don't, thanks to GOP manipulation of the media. I'd rather have Kucinich and Edwards on our ticket, but we won't.

If we want to beat McCain, we need to nominate Clinton and support her.

Ditto if they vote solely based on gender. Please, don't even try to make a case that 80 to 90 percent of black people are not voting for him because of his race more than because they compared his and Hillary's positions on the issues. I would say the same thing if the same percentage of women were voting for Hillary or if in the GE whites went overwhelmingly for McCain. This election HAS become about race, let's be honest and not pretend that it's not a big factor.

but in this election I think that the astounding percentage of black people who are voting for Obama are definitely doing so due to his race. what exactly are you trying to express with that?

i congratulate hillary on her strong women and latino bases. and think that shrugging them off (whatever possible intent you have in posting that... let's speculate them: diminish, demean, disinherit, dissipate, disinterest, deign, downplay, downcast, dribble, dismissive whatever, even if you meant "nothing" by it, why shrug to express that? it's something you should take back unless you mean not to disambiguate, which lack of intention isn't any more sincere) would an unfortunate way of making a point about her success among them. or has she earned this, whereas his is happenstance?

maybe you didn't intend it to be such, but it's a startling racialized (calm down, i didn't say racist) thing to do... really hoping that you address it, without continuing to be one or all the D's above....

From me? Hello from one of your fellow red state Dems :hi:

We're working our asses off too - did you hear about our caucuses? Fun, fun, fun!

47. Keep it up everyone!!
Clinton's actions are coming back to haunt her!

I don't expect a complete blowout. 60 percent for Obama is great!

All I can really think and hope for is that Clinton's small delegate gain on the 4th gets destroyed by Wyoming and Mississippi.

After that it is a month of superdelegates and exposing Clinton so let us hope for some early good news!

Don't get lazy tho everyone! Clinton needs to be exposed so continue your research and continue the support of Obama!

64. She may be more competitve than we think
But either way, after Saturday Obama will have recovered all of the lost delegates from Tuesday and extended his lead. Kinda funny I think.
