2. Wrong.
Besides, the Texas convention process doesn't play out until May.

10. It's a rather bizarre, Byzantine process.
Last night we held the precinct conventions, which selected delegates to the county conventions on March 29. The county conventions will send delegates to the senatorial district conventions. The senatorial districts will send delegates to the state convention in May, at which point the national delegates will be apportioned.

7. hold up - this from salon.com
Because of complicated delegate math in Texas -- where areas that have traditionally voted Democratic get more delegates, and where a third of the state's delegate haul is awarded in the caucus -- Obama's team emphasized going in that he would probably win the fight for delegates, no matter what happened with the popular vote.

so, despite the popular vote, he still could win texas in terms of delegates is how I'm reading this. and understand, i have no dog in this fight...i voted early for edwards in california. i'm just trying to understand.

9. That's about right. It's not so much that Hillary won as she didn't lose.
Obama may actually pick up more delegates.

From the DMN:

•228 total delegates at stake

•126 elected from 31 state senatorial districts. These delegates are awarded based on the proportion of votes in any given senatorial district. The number of delegates per district varies.

•35 superdelegates - elected officials and other party leaders who are free to back whichever candidate they choose.

•42 at-large delegates selected at precinct conventions on March 4, after polls close. Voters can sign up to be at-large delegates, and they are awarded by a proportion of those who attend the event. The candidate with the most people gets the highest percentage of delegates, and they go on to county and district conventions. The national delegates are awarded at the state Democratic convention.

•25 delegates chosen by a nominating committee. These are elected officials and party officials who are not superdelegates or regular delegates.

What a convoluted process, but it is what it is.

11. Yep, that's right. Obama might win a considerable amount of extra delegates in Texas.
Not that the news will report it or anything...

maybe a blip on CNN at five in the morning.
