Is this "thing" going to hurt our chances in the General Election?
The way it appears to me now, is that no matter who gets the nomination, essentially half of the Democratic party will already be pissed at that person. I hope I am wrong.

1. Without A Doubt
I believe we can thank the Clintons, once again, for that.

How silly.

7. We'll saying the Republican candidate would be better than your fellowDemocrat could hurt the party
I think that could hurt, right? You know to say that McCain would be better than Obama to deal with a crisis facing the country, I don't think that is good. What do you think? Is it ok to belittle your fellow party opponent by saying the Republican candidate would be better than your Democratic opponent in facing a crisis? In campaigning should one raise the the stock of Republicans in a cheap attempt to hurt a fellow Dem? Should we use fear tactics like Bush did in 2004, is that a good thing?

10. Nah
ya know what was really sleazy? Making the Clintons out to be racists. That was the shittiest smear in this whole campaign.

The Obama camp questions why Bill started to bring up the issue of race (in S.C.) as did others and you are claiming that those who questioned bills tactic/words/comparisons were trying to paint them as racisit? Wow, interesting logic.

Me: "Hey what's with Bills race comments/comparisons, why is that his focus?"

You: "Hey, why are calling Bill a racist?"

Me: "whaaaaaaaa?"

14. Saying the term "fairy tale" is racist
was just stupid and blatantly a swiftboat type attack. As was claiming that they tried to minimize MLK by talking about LBJs role. Same as claiming that Bill mentioning Jesse Jackson was racist.

It was a classic swiftboat technique - attack the candidate on his/her big strengths.

15. No, for running a "scorched earth" campaign against Obama.

Clinton doesn't care what shape she leaves Obama or the Democratic Party after her attacks. I used to support her but it's just another case of the Clinton's destroying the party for their own needs.

16. The hyperbole here is astounding
this isn't even close to scorched earth.

People with such delicate sensibilities shouldn't follow politics too closely.

2. We've got eight more months until the GE
That is a very long time and anything can/could happen between now and then.

I know that sounds vague but it's true. Campaigns and elections turn on a dime. We'll just have to ride this out.

Take heart, after March 11, there won't be a primary for over a month. That gives our candidates time to campaign straight to the people instead of via the media.

5. Hard to tell...it could help
Getting this dirt out now gives the candidates plenty of time to rinse it off or spin it in a positive way. It could be viewed as a fighter who is practising and in the process gets banged up, sure he's hurt but that gives him plenty of time to work on his skills and fix those weakness before the main event.

That said if the superdelegates were to decide who gets the nomination then the party could be severely crippled. People would see it as if their votes didn't matter.

9. Yes. I think we lose in November
If this goes on for months more, we lose in November. At this point, I almost hope Hillary gets it. I'll vote for her of course, but I'd find it less painful to see her lose to McCain
