Punxsatawney Barack musta seen his shadow.
Seven more weeks of campaigning.

*sigh*

;)

P.S. I love it. The more our candidates talk, the more voters get to see their exceptional quality.

Gonna bleed in here, but hey, we're used to it by now.

Cheers to Senator Clinton and her people. I had a hunch she'd do well today (no word on TX yet, but...), and she proved me right.

Cheers to Senator Obama, who closed big gaps and is going to be in this thing to the end, win or lose.

Cheers to the Democrats.

Cheers to DU.

Cheers to America.

:toast:

:)

3. My goodness, you're upbeat!
You mustn't think all the negative campaigning is bringing the Democratic side down! That's a good sign!

6. Can't we just have a steel cage match for all the marbles???
Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 12:12 AM by StrongBad
At least it would be relatively quick and painless compared to the alternative.

7. I signed on to DU in September 2004. I missed
all this 'fun'.

Yes, Obama closed the gaps, has delegates, and is doing well. But that shadow...

It gives McCain lots of running room, and that's worrisome.

15. Won't he get it now that he's the nominee, before the GE actually
starts? I'm clueless, really.

And JWC, got it. ;)

11. I've thought LONG AND HARD about this
but you know what?
It keeps the Democrats in the news.
Lord knows we have a hard time staying in the news cycle.
It may actually work to our benefit.

9. The longer the primary season, the more negative ads Hillary Clinton runs...
...and the worse voters think of Obama.

14. the more this goes on the meaner and nastier it's going to get
and the more it becomes likely that supports of the other won't support the eventual nominee.

I don't see how going much further helps us overall as a party.

17. It's a lovely day.
Two more months to attack McCain while the Republicans can't figure out who to attack.

Meanwhile, IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID!!!! McCain's an old soldier who doesn't know WTF to do about trade or the dollar or banks.

We have a catastrophe about to drop on the next president and we better start hearing what they'll do about the bank failures.

21. This isn't mean. "Gore is a liar" was mean. "Swiftboat vets" was mean
Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 12:28 AM by McCamy Taylor
As long as the corporate media is staying neutral or playing "Brokered Democratic Convention" (see my Journals about MSNBCs biased coverage of the Democratic Primary) the MSM will be treating the Dems with kid gloves, because they want both Hillary and Obama to be so wonderful that Dems can not choose between them.

Nothing the two Dems say or do about each other to score brownie points with Democratic voters will compare to the general election attacks that the RNC and the RNC aligned MSM will unleash on them. Plus, the issues that Dems will bring up are unlikely to sway general election voters. Who hates NAFTA more and who is stronger on health care and who hated the war first---these are not going to be topics of importance in the general election.

The very minute one of them drops out, at that precise minute MSNBC and The Tribune Co. and Fox News will start the smear campaign on the one who is left standing.

So, it is actually in the best interest of both of them to wage a real looking faux battle for votes all the way to the convention and then combine forces. I think Clinton/Obama is more electable, but if Obama has more delegates it could go the other way.
