I've always loved Hillary, but for years, I never wanted her to run for president, because of the Millions of Americans who for unfounded reasons hate her. My goal is to beat the GOP and that is why I was an Edwards supporter, then an Obama supporter. I just have a bad feeling Hillary could lose in November if she is the nominee. I believe Obama can beat Mccain, and because we cannot afford 4-8 more years of Republican rule, I voted for Obama.
What can you Hillary supporters out there say that will convince me she'll beat the pants off Mccain. If I can believe that, I'll feel better about her wins tonight.
One more thing. Will all you people who attack each other please stop it!!!!!! Let's beat up on Republicans. It troubles me to see the name calling going on between a group of people who need to get behind whoever the nominee ends up being.

1. Because Obama's negatives will be sky high this fall
after the republicans get through with him if he wins the nomination. Obama fans seem to think that their guy goes into the fall just as he exists now, with no media manipulation whatsoever, but the republican slime machine will go into overdrive if he is the nominee. And for those who say that Obama really is clean and they couldn't come up with anything to attack with, let me remind you that republicans don't need anything real.

We likely win or lose in about the same numbers with either candidate. They are both good, decent candidates who would be good presidents, even if nothing revolutionary like this leftist would want. As a leftist, though, I have to say I just don't get the heat amongst the Clinton-Obama supporters here. They aren't that different, and each is just moderately centrist or barely on the left side of the spectrum. I guess I'll never understand the venom from both sides.

2. Nothing. There are no guarantees in life.
Personally, I don't think Obama is any more electable than Hillary.

3. What can Obama supporters say to assure me he can beat McCain?
He can't win Ohio...He can't win Florida...He can't win Pennsylvania...

To overcome those losses he'd need to sweep the southwestern states (minus Arizona) and take Missouri, Iowa, and Arkansas....Sorry, not happening.

4. Well, that's the thing.
He did very badly in rural counties of OH. Those are the counties that cost Kerry the presidency.
I just don't get how Obama is going to be electable in GE.
What states is he gonna win that Kerry did not?

13. He would need either OH or FL, or a VA and CO combo
I've never been too worried about Hillary's electablity because she can win Ohio and hold Michigan... which is enough

And she's much stronger in FL

So she or Barack can both win, though differently.

(Obama can write off FL off the top... too many folks there who would vote Hillary but go with McCain vs. Obama)

My biggest worry with Hillary vs. McCain would be the Pacific northwest.

6. Nope. . .
Given the sheer ARROGANCE of the Obama supporters and their "woman-hating," there is no way that
any of the Hillary supporters will ever support him. There is a growing movement to either
defect by not voting if Obama is the candidate (after all, the arrogance there will never permit
Obama supporters to do anything for Hilllary supporters), or else Hillary supporters will vote for
McCain.

Things aren't good out there Obama people. You will either lose or you will lose.

Something's gotta undergo a major sea change with Obama supporters or else. He may get the delegates,
but he'll never get the people's vote. Delegates aren't everything.

7. well, I think that it should be obvious now that Hillary can throw down when it's fight time.
I honestly think she's been pretty decent to Obama and when it comes time for the main event, she's going to unload unholy fury on John McCain. Just my opinion though.

8. Her platform and Obama's are clones. People will vote policy this year, not personality.
No one can afford to. Either of them will win because their policies are what is needed and people realize it. The days of voting based on terror and bullshit are over.

9. Well, there's no doubt she will fight 100%, and won't be afraid to appear bad doing it
Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 12:10 AM by Kurt_and_Hunter
Fear of looking like the bad guy prevents a lot of very good people from winning.

She just doesn't care. (Like Bill)

If she needs to claim McCain will reinstate the draft to win, then she will do it. And smile.

And I must say, she takes a punch like nobody's business.

16. She is a pit bull with lipstick
I admire her decisiveness, her perserverance, her intelligence, and her willingness to stand up and fight, and fight and fight.

I still wish Edwards was in the race and winning right now, but I think HRC can stand up to McCain just fine. She will tear his throat out.

Woof

2004.

Polls said that Kerry would win.

Picture it.

1988.

Polls said that Dukakis would win.

It's SO early to predict the general election.

Same with Obama as the nominee.

We have TWO great candidates.

Our nominee will FIGHT like crazy and will win.

I just know it.

11. I don't know how to reassure you except to tell you that I have always felt she has a better chance
than Obama. I wasn't in her camp initially, but she has completely won me over. Maybe I am an example of the national voters. If you get to know her and listen to her, you just KNOW she can not only win against McCain, but be a President we Democrats can absolutely count on.

I could say so much more about this wonderful lady, but I am very tired right now and not organizing my thoughts well. Here's a  before I retire tonight.

14. She'll kick McCain's ass in November.
GUARANTEED! The RWers have thrown so much crap at her and the lady is still standing. They will continue to throw crap at her and the American people will respond just like they did when they threw the crap in the 90s. They will REVOLT against the repuke crap and vote for Hillary. Don't forget...Bill Clinton left office with a 65% approval rating! The citizens of this country hated what the repukes were doing to the Clintons. Hillary will win in November. McCain doesn't have a chance. The Majority in this country want us OUT of Iraq, McCain wants to stay for 100 years. McCain knows jack shit about economics. Hillary has on her team, a Rhodes Scholar whose Major at West Point was ECONOMICS, Wes Clark. McCain wants to appoint strict constructionist judges to the SCOTUS. The Majority in this country do NOT want Roe v. Wade overturned. The evangelicals don't like McCain and will probably stay home.

Hillary is going to win. McCain can't beat her.

17. The problem with Hillary
is that she is the democrat's George W. Bush. The hatred most democrats and a lot of indies feel for the current president are felt by the opposite side towards HRC.

I can almost guarentee that Obama will win Missouri. I also give a 70% chance to win Iowa and Colorado. If he also wins the same states that Kerry won, he will have 279 EV.

Alright. many of you made good points, I will strongly support Hillary if she is the nominee, even though I still prefer Obama. And I still think he'll end up the nominee. If I had my way, and could pick the president, I'd go with someone much more liberal than Hillary or Obama. Now I hope that gal who made the comment that many women hate Obama and will vote for Mccain just in spite is wrong. We should all know just how destructive the fossilized version of Bush will be. I am sure that if Obama is the Nominee, Clinton will endorse him and vice versa if Clinton gets it. We all need to put the bickering aside and let the rest of America speak.

19. Things between them have been so bitter that
Hillary will not endorse him. Furthermore, the disrespect and arrogance his followers have shown toward
rural people and older folks will be his ultimate undoing. Believe it or not, this is more of a fight between
the generations and the traditions than anything else. Obama's message is to leave us older folks in the dust
and we don't like that at all!

20. Sorry you feel that way
So because I'm an Obama supporter, I have been disrespecting rural people and older folks? This is the first I've heard this. I've certainly heard some terrible comments from Obama people on this message board, and I apologize for any rude comments you may have heard from some rude DUers. You really don't think Hillary would be there at the convention in Denver if Obama pulls out the win? Even though she has some some unfair things about Obama in recent days. Some which I think are awful. I believe she would be there at the convention speaking in Obama's behalf. I've read some posts on the Obama board where people are saying the same thing you are, as far as saying they won't vote for Hillary if she wins. This is childish too. If your not really a Democrat and don't care about Health care, the Economy, Iraq, etc. Then vote for Mccain if Obama is his opponent. That is your right to vote Republican.
