I really like Sen. Kent Conrad, ND.
He's got the practical smarts and impeccable honesty of Harry Truman. He can take complex data and explain the Democrats case so even economic dummies, like moi, get it. Plus, he's young and attractive. Would he a viable possibility for VP?

10. Conrad has forgotten more about the budget
than most Senators ever knew.

3. given that he probably couldn't even deliver our 3 EV
I doubt it.

But for being such a red state, we have very cool members of congress (all 3 democrats)

4. i remember hearing a woman on cspan
i think the guest on cspan was mark pryor from arkansas who is a new young democratic senator. she made a comment about his age and then said she was watching kent conrad on cspan and he was doing good and she was impressed by him and said democrats have a lot of young talent like this and need to get them out more to help the democrats.

5. him and Dorgan needed in the senate
Plus, I doubt he would want to give up his spot on the budget committee, which is a great asset to his small state.

6. Yes, I get the idea that he's not a great choice,
but I still really like him. I think the electorate would too. But that's just mho. I'm also still REALLY hoping for a Wes Clark VP pick.

I'm too lazy to look it up, be we get significantly more back from the federal gov than we send out.

8. no
we'd lose his Senate seat and probably would have virtually no chance of retaking it, plus it wouldn't help us win ND at all.

9. No way
Kent Conrad was one of the first Senate Democrats to ask President Clinton to resign after the Lewinsky story broke. Plus he's from a tiny, right-wing state that we will never carry in a million years.
