Make sure to donate to other liberal candidates running for office.
Edited on Tue Mar-30-04 02:27 PM by blm
Like Barbara Boxer in California.

Boxer has a lifetime rating (since 93) of 2% by the ACU (conservative) - the lower the better.

In way of comparison, Wellstone's lifetime was 3%, John Kerry's lifetime at 6%, and Dennis Kucinich at 12%.

Let's preserve as many liberal candidates as we can in November. Donate.

2. not me...we're winning the WH and Senate
and possibly the Congress.

Let's make Dennis Kucinich the Speaker of the House.

3. I really wish I agreed with you, but I can't envision Kerry winning
For a long while I thought we had a real shot at it. But looking at what just a fraction of Bush's war chest has done to the race, I don't see it as even being close by November.

We live in a country full of bushbots. We've just got to stop the bleeding. That's why I'm giving up (financially) on the presidential race and focusing on two races where my donations and time can still have an effect... Feingold's senate race and my local congressional race in which a Dem. is already being fiercely attacked.

4. Suit yourself, of course, but....
there is NO WAY Bush is winning in November. Kerry is WAY too good and WAY too competent, especially in the last few months of a campaign. He's the ULTIMATE closer. World Series calibre.

15. Please don't throw in the towel just yet. Kerry is *very* competitive...
in nature -- right now he is sidelined by shoulder surgery, but when he gets back on track, he will fight hard. The Democrats have to pace themselves to avoid burning out the audience with political fatigue so early in the game. (But I agree that * shouldn't be spotted a big early lead.)

And true, the GOP coffers are bottomless, but the DP has raised some formidable $$$ also, and continues to do so. Some very influential people want * gone.

Remember -- the country is more-or-less freeze-dried as it was in the 2000 election. That is our starting point. With some key battles won, BushCo is vulnerable and can be brought down.

And all this coming from a guy who supported Dean, Clark and Edwards (in that sequence, as they went down)!

Best to you -- :toast:

You forget that we are TIED right now. Why don't you just visit my thread and get rid of your defeatism. BLM and I will enjoy the Kerry campaign and have an outlook of optimism.

6. actually, no
This is the first I've actually come to the realization that Kerry will probably lose. Again, Rove has only started to work his "magic" and look at the jump Bush has made.

I will vote for Kerry and I think, for the record, that he is an EXCELLENT candidate. However, I'm pragmatic and I want my limited time and money to have the maximum effect. Therefore, I'll work mainly for Feingold. In this race, joe sixpack from Alabama doesn't matter.

8. Rove is not a genius.
He has screwed up a lot and poll swings are normal. Cheer up or I'll have to smack you. ;)

12. Hey progressiverealist
You are doing exactly what Bush wants, giving up the fight before it is over. I will do everything in my power; money and time till NOV! This is no time to lay on your back and play dead. I'm from WI too. Russ Feingold will be fine. He is a god here. Donate your time to the Congressional race. The more local you get, the more visible you are. Don't lose sight of the prize. this is too important.

13. There are MANY important Congressional Races
If you're looking for ideas, here's a list of some that need backing, with handy links to their campaign websites and contribution pages (also contact info).

http://www.wesclarkdemocrats.com/races.asp

The ones on the list are there based on three criteria:

1) The Democratic candidate is already known. We aren't taking sides in any primary races.
2) If it's an incumbent then they are expected to face a stiff Republican challenge.
3) If it's a challenger then they are predicted to have a credible shot at winning the race. At this point, we don't want to dilute our efforts by backing longshots.

But if you have a suggestion of a race you'd like to see added, please contact: http://www.wesclarkdemocrats.com/contact.asp.

16. Over $4K in less than 12 hours -- Y'all did good!
And as a "great man" (to quote Senator Kerry) once said, if you can do good, you should.

Contributions to Congressional campaigns yesterday:

3/31/2004 10:47 PM
$17,863.62
144 donors

3/31/2004 11:34 AM
$13,597.98
128 donors

'Course, this just reflects those who logged their contributions. I would assume some didn't bother to, altho we much encourage it, whether you consider yourself a WCD or not.

Let's do some more good today!
