Good poll numbers from SC - Hollings' US Senate Seat
Edited on Tue Mar-30-04 01:58 PM by nu_duer
Mabye we South Carolinians can begin to make up for sending that slime Lindsey Graham to the US Senate.

The Harrison Hickman poll shows that Inez leads all of her Republican challengers and holds a substantial lead among the independent voters who will likely decide the general election outcome. Monday's poll also showed that in addition to besting Beasley, Tenenbaum holds even stronger leads over the other two most likely Republican nominees. She leads former state Attorney General Charlie Condon 47 percent to 40 percent, and leads U.S. Rep. Jim DeMint 48 percent to 33 percent.

Among voters identifying themselves as Independents, Tenenbaum holds six-point leads over Beasley and Condon, and a 26-point lead over the lesser-known DeMint.

The poll also showed that Tenenbaum, South Carolina’s popular two-term State Superintendent of Education, is widely familiar to South Carolina voters and better-liked than any of the Republican candidates. Her current name recognition is 82 percent, compared with 88 percent for Beasley, 78 percent for Condon and 63 percent for DeMint. She received a 41 percent favorable rating from polled voters, compared with 39 percent for Beasley, 35 percent for Condon and 25 percent for DeMint

1. South Carolina, please vote for Jim DeMint in the primary!
DeMint is absolutely despised by South Carolina's business community - the people who generally fund the state GOP - for his stance of trade. If he gets the nomination, a lot of prominent businessmen, particularly in the upstate, will come out for Tenenbaum. Only problem is, I don't think he will.

3. He's got the "tough on terrorism" ad going
but then again, so does Condon, who, last ad I saw, was still running against the phantom "Howard Dean Democrats."

Where do they grow 'em?

4. I always felt she would be a strong candidate
and as long as she hits the GOP on job losses and outsourcing jobs then we have a shot at this seat.
