A good response Hillary could've given to the Muslim question
"It's a ridiculous issue. Of course Barack is NOT a Muslim. And if he were that would be no problem anyway. But the truth is he is not. He is a Christian. I am a Christian. Let's move on and talk about more important things like who's in the best position to run the country."

Just anything along those lines. Say "No" and make it clear that it's a dead issue. Not the smarmy answer she gave.

1. I think she should have said...
"That's not my business. He can speak for himself on personal matters like that. Ask him."

How the hell did we get to the point where any candidate has to answer for any other candidate's religious beliefs? This is all ridiculous.

2. Well, I agree with you, but by that logic
She also never should have been asked the question.

7. Correct. That's why the "ask him" part would be a good end to the answer.

6. Maybe I missed something...
but I saw the 60 minutes piece several times on tv, and she said she does not believe he is a Muslim. What else is there to say?

3. I'm glad she didn't mention the LA Times article "Islam an unknown factor in Obama bid".
Islam an unknown factor in Obama bid

His former Roman Catholic and Muslim teachers, along with two people who were identified by Obama's grade-school teacher as childhood friends, say Obama was registered by his family as a Muslim at both of the schools he attended.

That registration meant that during the third and fourth grades, Obama learned about Islam for two hours each week in religion class.

Bugs have eaten Obama's file in the school's archive, said Vice Principal Hardi Priyono. But two of his teachers, former Vice Principal Tine Hahiyari and third-grade teacher Effendi, said they remember clearly that at this school, too, he was registered as a Muslim, which determined what class he attended during weekly religion lessons.

"Muslim students were taught by a Muslim teacher, and Christian students were taught by a Christian teacher," said Effendi, who, like many Indonesians, uses only one name.

5. She gave a good response. She is not Barack's spiritual advisor or campaign manager.
Get over it.

9. Hillary has no obligation to bend over backwards for Obama on the question
Edited on Mon Mar-03-08 09:08 PM by oasis
of his muslim ties. Before he entered the race for president he knew that any perceived association with Islam was a liablity for him.

Now he and his supporters demand that Hillary vouch for him. Gimme a break.

Why doesn't Obama spend some of that pile of campaign dollars on a montage picture ad of him growing up and attending Sunday school? I'm sure there are some of those around.
