Ohio Weather Forecast for Tues: HORRID...

Freezing rain all day, all across the state. How will it impact? Which candidate more likely to be affected? Any guesses?

2. Hard to say
Clinton enjoys more support among groups that are traditionally more reliable voters, so the bad weather might help her. But Obama's supporters have been more passionate in most states (hence his success with caucuses), so they might be more motivated to come out than Clinton's supporters.

7. Wisconsin had some pretty cold weather,
but not freezing rain for their primary. Did this help Obama at all there? I'm guessing that they are so used to the cold that it didn't make much difference.

10. Yes, they are used to the cold in Wisconsin
I also think the cold per se doesn't keep people away as much as the bad roads that will result from the freezing rain and sleet.

21. Hi Sharon, that would be my guess also
This is Herb Brown from my last life (I was banned for overzealously supporting Ralph Nader on the board). Anyway I vowed never again to argue on these boards, and yet here I am . Go Obama!

5. I can't remember an election day that the weather wasn't shitty
It is always raining or snowing here on election day.
Our polling place is in a church that has very poor lighting and a tiny parking lot.

6. The candidate with more passionate supporters benefits from harsh weather...
...candidates with luke-warm support see poor turnout on such days.

I think we can all agree that the PASSION in this campaign has been on the Obama side. Bad weather bodes well for Obama.

The most passionate part of Hillary's base.... let's be frank.... is largely over-50 white women. I don't think they brave the nasty weather as much.

The rest of her support is relatively luke warm. They might decide to curl up with a cup of tea and sit it out.

Obama's support.... generally.... is more passionate and willing to brave the elements to turn out. He also has a much better ground game in most states.

I say.... BRING ON THE FREEZING RAIN. That is good for Obama.

13. I say....I HOPE EVERYONE CAN VOTE.
Whether it be for Obama or Clinton, I would not want to see anyone have to stay home because they are elderly or handicapped, etc. People like you make Obama look bad. You would wish that the "over-50 white women" have to stay home?? I know a lot of over 50 white women that would brave some bad weather to kick your ass and probably could. Do you have a bumper sticker on your car that says "Sexist's for Obama"?????

17. For the record, Ohioans aren't shrinking violets when it comes to weather.
You call it "freezing rain."

We call it "March."

By the way, the forecast in Cincinnati is a high of 47 which is pretty nice for late winter in these parts.

20. Today it's 60
Tomorrow is another story, though. Supposed to be in the 30's and we have "winter warnings" out. Many of us Ohioans are used to this sort of weather in March, however it may keep the elderly indoors.

29. Over 2 inches or rain expected for southeast ohio
It will flood and keep the rednecks from the polls...not sure who that will favor, though. They don't like women running for President and are more prejudiced than other areas of the state.

Actually, there are alot of fair and balanced people that live down there but just saying...

The unmitigated SNOBBERY of some folks from the Obama camp is disgusting. I've heard some of you refer to Appalachian people as "trailer trash", "ignorant", "rednecks" et al. Don't try to soft soap your insults after the fact. And I'm more than disappointed that other Obama supporters must think this is perfectly all right. That's okay -- y'all have made it quite clear, some by your silence, where the people of Appalachia stand with you.

31. This viewpoint being espoused *is* racism -- any Obama supporters saying it should be ashamed
"Redneck" is a racial slur -- it means Scots-Irish-English southerners. It has only come to mean "bigot" because of the implications of the slur. "Trailer trash" is a ludicrous term anyway -- the Gore family lived in a trailer at one time.

Racism is ignorance ... including the view that suggests "rednecks" are bigots.
